The Source Cafe (est 2017) is a popular and fun little breakfast spot right on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach. It has a cool vibe, lots of fun things on the menu, healthy smoothies, and baked pastries. Interior design and layout were brilliant with abundant natural light.

We came on an early weekend morning to grab breakfast; it was my first time at this cafe. I was warmly greeted by a male staff with a smile. I ordered an iced coffee and avocado toast. Both items were solid. Breakfast AT was delightful and healthy.
Services were spot on. Prices were fair for the area. Plenty of street metered parking.

This location is located in the Culver City Cuisine pick up area and I order from restaurants here all the time and had no idea moon bowls was located there as well. So good and healthy! “Our Sunday night takeout meal of Roasted Chicken and Cheese, corn and bacon macaroni gratin was delicious. Paired with a nice French white wine, it was almost as good as eating at the restaurant. Looking forward to future offerings.“

“If you’re a first timer like me, you might be doubtful entering the store just like my experience as it’s not like the door was open or you could peek through from outside. Nonetheless that’s probably the way you knew it’s legit as the store didn’t even come in gorgeous presentation or whatsoever. Just simple showcases and an attendant, with cash-only payment.

Nothing looked fancy, but abundant options of both mochi and manju. If you’re not familiar, prolly simplest way to differentiate is mochi comes in chewy texture while manju is more soft bread-alike. The filling they offered varied from red bean, white bean, even black one! I got their Kinako Mochi filled with black bean and covered in soy bean powder. One bite and WOW IT WAS BOMB! So good and totally cured my craving for the ones I had in Japan. I could totally tell the quality was stellar and it’s fully stuffed with luscious filling making the price tag paid certainly worth.“

At first they were really nice and reactive but then they just disappeared and ignored my messages ! I asked them 3 times to answer me but nothing….. I have never seen that in the US ! Really disappointing. And their answer on Google made it just worse. Although the shop is amazing, I won’t go anymore.“

“Cara Mia catered my mother-in-law's memorial service beautifully and on quite short notice. The owner was so incredibly kind and helped us pick out the right things to feed 30+ people, was super responsive via email, and even met us in person when we picked up our order to offer her heartfelt condolences. They went above and beyond to help make this difficult day easier and we were blown away not only by their compassion, but the quality of their baked goods! The memorial guests devoured everything and many of them remarked to us how great the food was :) I can't recommend Cara Mia enough and hope to visit again under happier circumstances. “Shojin is incredible! The space is really beautiful, with very intimate 2-seater tables in the back room perfect for a date night or special night out. Service was amazing, complete with hand towels before the first appetizer and great descriptions/explanations of every dish as they’re being brought out. The food is thoughtful and everything is vegan and gluten free and made in house. They also don’t use normal sugar.

We tried the shojin green gyoza, lion’s mane karaage, Shoj-in-n-out hand roll, purple treasure 5.0, and the harvest curry ramen. Everything was delicious. The ramen was a great portion size. We got share plates and split it. The hand roll was a cool experience because it comes unrolled and you roll it yourself. The purple treasure 5.0 is an eggplant roll and the eggplant pieces on top were intense, way bigger than I was expecting and so juicy. Also a lot of the rolls have “torched at the table” written next to them on the menu. When they bring them to the table they fire it right in front of you and it’s really cool to see.

We tried the dessert that comes with miso cookies, black sesame ice cream, and matcha chocolate truffles- this combo of flavors was excellent and surprising. I had never tried miso cookies before and they were so good.

For drinks we tried the golden hour mind, which is a functional zero proof cocktail, and the orange yuzunade, which was my favorite and is like an orange juice mixed with lemonade and yuzu. I don’t drink alcohol so it was exciting to see so many thoughtful non-alcoholic drinks on the menu.

It was a little pricey, but the food was amazing and the vibes were so nice and the service was fantastic, plus you can really tell the menu is crafted very intentionally. I’d say it is worth the price and then some. I’d love to come back and try an omakase sometime, and if I lived in the area I’d come around every season to try the seasonal items.“

“Hi I love this cafe - the food is healthy, tasty and wide-ranging in cuisines, and the people, Mimi and Justin, make it feel like another home. Mimi is a warm, consummate professional who can handle anything, events-wise, and the space is versatile for any kind of casual and convivial gathering. This place is one of my favorite “third spaces” for working when I need a change of environment from the home office (there are tables that overlook the pool), painting (I’m a huge fan of the paint and sip classes) or just hanging out. Neighbors can consider it a great resource for meals and snacks off the beach (and anytime), entertaining for occasions and even just to grab a bottle of wine or party-food supplies for friends who drop by. Highly recommend“

“Wow so freaking good!! Genuinely the best bowl I’ve ever had. I got the mixed grilled chicken bowl with lemon thyme sauce while my boyfriend got the same but with the chipotle sauce. Both were great! Pretty cute they wrote a little thank you note on the take out box too:)

If I were to complain about anything it would be to add a little more protein portion to eat bowl. Otherwise I highly recommend this place!“
