“Today I visited the Smoke Door Sanryo for lunch with my friend Isao Yoshikawa, the father of the new chef Kosuke Yoshikawa. All I can say is this was a truly wonderful experience with each course in the set lunch menu delivering uniquely superb taste that was delicately balanced with sauces that were extremely delicious. This is fine dining that shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe.”

“We dropped in during happy hour (4:30-6:00PM. Sunday-Thursday) for a drink and light meal. Very satisfied!
1. Garlic/cheesebread + meatballs & tomato sauce combo dish was just right, more than ample.
2. Baked artichoke hearts dish was a delight - loaded with roasted red peppers, fresh mushrooms, pine nuts and a sprinkle of bread crumbs.
Staff was cordial despite heavy crowd, slightly funky atmosphere complimented the experience. This is a family operation with long-term staff and it shows. We just about licked our plates clean. Bravo!!!”

“Great tacos at a family restaurant. This is a simple pleasure. The pozole looked great and I'll save that for next time. I had pork and chicken tacos. Their bottled hot sauces for eating there were great. They have only about 8 to 10 tables, so takeout is pretty popular there. I was there at about 11:30 AM Sunday, perfect.”

“I'm biased on this one. I live very close know the owners and the workers...... I dare you to try and eat 2 Mac n cheese dawgs. So good but you are gonna take a happy nap after 2”

“I don't necessarily understand the poor reviews so I need to add one here. This is my favorite burger spot around North Lake Tahoe. I love the char flavor and fresh ingredients they use each time I was in this location. People were super cool and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Outdoor patio is great. Expectations wise, if you love a great burger, don't hesitate to give them a visit. If you are worried about the girl at the register not being as talkative as you would have hoped for, or they may be out of milkshakes, go elsewhere...”

“What an amazing spot! Not only is the ice cream delicious. They have the most patient man working the ice cream counter. The flavors are listed ABOVE the counter so you can see while you stand in line. No charge for a topping, cute fireplace, plenty of seating. AND I went to the restroom and they had a handful of spare diapers for kiddos in need. That kind of thoughtful and caring touch is just amazing and goes a long way for a mom whose kid has been out of diapers for a long time. 😂

My kid’s review: this place is so good that I love it. Big sized ice creams, so make sure you’re sharing if you get a large. It’s super good. I’d recommend the sherbet. It’s got really good ice cream and the guy who served me is really nice.”

“The breakfast burritos we had were excellent and large size - my wife only needed 1/2 for her meal. Adding spinach into the brisket burrito added a great flavor addition. The coffee was a little tepid, but staff were very happy to remake it when I simply asked if we could heat it up more. (Not intending to remake, but to simply microwave or similar)

The place was packed and it looked like staff were going at warp speed.
