“I appreciate how easy this restaurant is to find, especially in downtown La Mesa. The ambiance is clean, relaxing, and welcoming. We had a 7:15 p.m. reservation on a Wednesday—before payday—so the wait time was pleasantly short. The wine selection was solid, and I enjoyed a refreshing rosé. We love ordering small plates so we can sample a variety of dishes. We started with the Bruschetta di Pomodoro and the Heirloom Caprese. The Caprese was the standout—fresh, vibrant, and delicious. The bruschetta, however, was fairly average. I followed with the Soupe à L'Oignon, which was creamy, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the Caprese. We also tried the Poulet Cordon Bleu, which had just the right balance of crunch and cheesy richness. My entrée, the Pesce Alla Livornese, was wonderfully flavorful with fresh ingredients and a well-balanced herb sauce that made the dish truly delightful. For dessert, we ordered the Mousse au Chocolat, which was very good. I also tried the Crema Catalana, but it was overly caramelized—almost burnt—which made the flavor too harsh for my liking. Thankfully, the chocolate mousse and a decaf coffee helped reset my palate. The price points were reasonable, and I imagine the happy hour would be even more budget-friendly. Overall, aside from a minor tweak needed on the dessert, I would definitely return and try something new next time.“

“So good! I visited solo on a Friday night and was immediately seated at the bar. Went for the tasting menu which was a very healthy amount of food - 7 small dishes total, served in 4 courses. Everything down to the salad was amazing, and the main course included an excellent grilled swordfish and maybe the best patatas bravas I've ever had.

Service was excellent, started out with a cocktail and moved on to a really nice vinho verde to pair with the main course. All in all one of the highlights of my time in San Diego - would absolutely return if I'm ever back in town!“

“I attended an event at Meraki last night and absolutely loved the space! It’s beautifully clean, open, and so versatile—you can really make it your own. The food was delicious A++ (my favorite was the Fettuccine Alfredo) and the service was truly top notch. Such a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!“

“Love this place! I got the MAKE Breakfast Sandwich and it was soooo good. Huge fan of the biz baz sauce they serve with it. I also grabbed a Spiced Cold Brew Latte on my way out which was really tasty, I appreciate that they make it with oat milk.

I loved sitting in the garden near the raised vegetable beds. It was calm, quiet and easy for a Saturday lunch. Such a fun addition to Normal Heights!“

“The food was delicious overall, especially the grilled meat—it was definitely the highlight of the meal! The meat was incredibly tender and smooth, with a rich, natural beef flavor that really stood out.
The Tonkotsu ramen was also very good. The broth was flavorful and delicious, and the pork was tender, juicy, and not chewy at all.
However, the service could definitely be improved. The service felt a bit unorganized, and the staff didn’t seem to pay much attention to the customers. We had to keep calling someone over whenever we needed something.
Overall, the food was great, but the service experience could have been much better.“

“Absolutely fantastic experience at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato! The service from Andrea (owner) was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was incredible-from the rich, comforting Carbonara w/anchovies to the Captain's Treasure chest is unexplainable good, everything was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. This place is a gem in San Diego for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. Oh, by the way, did I mention the Tiramisu... WOW!! “I’ve been here quite a few times, both on weekdays and weekends, and it’s easily my favorite cocktail bar in North Park. On my most recent visit, I ended up third-wheeling my friends’ date night 😅 after they invited me along. Since it was a weekday, the place was surprisingly quiet. I’m so used to seeing long waits and packed crowds here that it almost felt like a different bar. We started with a few shots and then moved on to cocktails. The Misa Misa was okay, and the Spirited Away was good, but my absolute favorite was the Heads Will Roll. It was delicious and probably one of the better cocktails I’ve had here. One thing I really appreciate about this place is how much thought goes into their signature drinks. The presentation, the flavors, even the glassware all feel intentional and unique. This was also the first time I tried their food. The truffle fries were absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. We also ordered the vegetable gyoza, which was pretty good. My friends got the disco fries and seemed to really enjoy them. The only miss for us was the yakitori both the vegetable and New York strip skewers were both way too salty and ended up being our least favorite dishes of the night. Overall, I’d still give this place a solid 5/5 for cocktails and around a 4/5 for food. The drinks alone keep me coming back.“
