“It’s pretty easy to see why this place has been in business for so long I obviously love coming to new places and trying new things, but today was a special treat rare is the occasion that I get to try bread right from the bakery that made it I stopped in at Pollys by accident but the first thing I noticed for the delicious pies and the clientele because not only is it a bakery but it’s a restaurant! they keep their menu pretty straight to the point but the flavor of the bread and the quality and the texture is just amazing I had to try the Ryebread with some of their home churn butter it reminded me of the stuff I used to see on TV when people actually made their butter… It was delicious the smooth creamy butter mixed in with the flavor of the Ryebread made the 599 a pansy almost like I was ripping them off the staff was very friendly and the store was very clean this looks like a wonderful place for an early dinner or an incredible breakfast but the next review is gonna be about the chocolate cream pie because I imagine that something that should be smoked in a pipe it’s so good!“

“I completed an online order the day before Christmas eve. I was expecting to wait in a very long line. Other than parking which I found in the next parking lot which was not bad. I was literally in and out in 15 minutes it was amazing. AND I was able to order additional items to my order in a specific cashier, and that was amazingly efficient as well....the quality is not only good but the man/woman power they had up there is a well oiled machine! Kudos for an amazing efficient system that not only makes the customer happy, but has calm employees handle everything with a team oriented approach. It was beautiful!!!! I love the large varieties of cookies there and they're large! Every cookie and small pie has been absolutely delish! I just had a small key lime pie this past weekend that SO good!“

“The San Pedro location, unfortunately, wasn’t accepting online orders, so I made the trek to the Long Beach location. Thankfully, this location was accepting online orders, sparing me a 6 a.m. pastry pilgrimage. I scheduled a 12:45 p.m. pickup but didn’t arrive until 1:45 p.m., so I won’t fault the pastries if they weren’t piping hot.

Colossus Bakery on 2nd Street sits near some of my favorite Long Beach spots, like Holey Grail Donuts and Win-Dow. I ordered three items: a cardamom bun, kouign amann, and pecan sticky bun, eaten in that order, which also reflects my ranking.

The cardamom bun was delicious: the spice came through without overpowering the pastry. It was denser and doughier than the light, airy pastries I usually favor, but still excellent. The kouign amann was similarly dense, though each bite had a satisfying audible crispness. The pecan sticky bun lived up to its sticky reputation with plenty of nuts, though it ended up my least favorite of the three (but still very good).

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my pastries. I imagine they’d be even better fresh or warmed, and I can’t wait to work through the rest of the menu. Colossus Bakery has officially joined my elite Los Angeles/Long Beach pastry rotation. Highly recommended!“

“It's always pretty busy but for good reasoning. The salads are fresh, crisp, and have great assortments of ingredients that place them right on the intersection of healthy & indulgent!!! I loved the chicken ceasar, but the apple pomegranate is truly something else! The soup they have as a special right now is everything I look for in a soup; warm, comforting, and hearty. The bread they serve with it dipped in the broth is the icing on the cake. Everybody already knows that they nail the sugary stuff! Their baked goods are dangerously delicious. My fave dessert is Tiramisu and Porto's NAILS IT! Their marscapone cream is super light and airy and with the little bits of chocolate and ladyfingers, along with that espresso flavor?! UGH. It's incredible. They do great strawberry matchas btw, their creamy strawberry puree is what makes it special. You can tell it's not artificial flavoring. I love the tea bags they use in their earl greys as well! I've had many cheese and guava danishes at various events along with trying other desserts at birthdays and my two dine in visits thus far, and I'VE NEVER bern disappointed. Porto's is peak indulgent comfort food, made with ingredients that I feel are high quality. Id also say personally, that I feel like everything is a good price for how fresh it is! Annette is a total sweetheart and a literal ray of sunshine by the way, her customer service is amazing!!! Jason gave my sister and I amazing service as well! Our family loves Porto's! 🫶🏻😊“

I canvased the staff asking which cookie was best and Eric assured me it’s the chocolate chip cookie. Gabby backed him up. I was skeptical. How could an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie with such small chocolate chips have enough chocolate? WELL…. Turns out the mini chips are baked into the center creating a perfectly soft and chocolatey cookie. Shout out to Eric and Gabby for being honest and having fun. 10/10 recommend.“

“I’ve always enjoyed the cheesecake at Ohh Bakery, but this time I tried their fresh cream cake. The chiffon sponge was incredibly soft, and the fresh cream tasted so light and delicious. You can really tell they use very fresh ingredients. On top of that, the cake prices are amazing. I’m so happy that Ohh Bakery opened—great taste and great prices!

“I went to a new chè place last night and was disappointed. New doesn’t always mean better. So this morning we had to go check out the OG of all bakery and chè place that my aunt keeps talking about.

Boy oh boy, their avocado drink is literally the best in town. You get the rich and creamy fresh avocado not the powder mix. Had so many avocado chunks and jelly. They made it fresh. Not so sweet.

We also got a few of the cupcake size desserts like the steamed layer cake, baked taro cake, salted egg sponge cake, and pate chaud.

It’s so convenient in cupcake size to snack. $1.50 each or 4 for $6 which isn’t a deal when it comes out the same. You can increase the size on most of these items. You can order party trays of up to 80 pieces or more.

Even the pate chaud is tiny but delicious. It was evenly proportional in meat and pastry.

“I wanted to try this bakery because I was in the area. It is a small bakery just pick up. There is no seating, but the bakery is clean and pleasant. I met the owner who was friendly and helpful. It was so nice to be able to eat a gluten free, low carb dessert. The items we did purchase were fresh, moist and delicious. It was a bit pricey, but when you like baked goods, and can’t have gluten in it and or are diabetic this is a nice solution.“
