Teofilo Coffee Company Coffee Roasteries • $$
10525 Los Alamitos Blvd, Los Alamitos

“An interesting larger than anticipated coffee spot located in a corner strip mall across the street from Los Al High School, this spot boasts a Filipino inspired menu with beans imported fresh from the Philippines. I ordered a Nido Latte and a pork siopao. The latte was rich and a little heavy (because Nido), sweet but not overpoweringly so. It definitely had a nostalgic flavor and was substantial (again, because Nido). I had ordered it iced but received it hot, but I imagine it might have been better this way anyway. The pork siopao was delicious, with the perfect texture that rivals popular dimsum/manapua bakeries in the greater area. The little sauce they gave on the side was a little congealed (probably because it was stored in the fridge), but it didn't really need it. The store seemed clean but looking a little worn. The dining area didn't seem like it was getting a ton of use, so it was being used more so for storage than for seating but there is plenty of space there. And the gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and hospitable. I definitely recommend checking out this spot, especially if you're looking for strong and smooth specially curated coffee.“

“Just like my grandmother's cooking! Authentic Pinoy food. Get your friends hooked on this place it's legit! My family often will use their catering services for our gatherings. It's always a hit, and by tradition you know where the left overs (grab your country crock tub) go! I also brought some lumpia shanghai to work, and lets say I was the cool guy in the office for a week. I'm always recommending this place to other, be it if they are Filipino or looking to try Filipino dishes.“

“A Hawaiian mom and pop shop located in a plaza where the Ralph’s and La Fitness are at! located in Carson St, serving very local dishes from the islands while adding a few from the Philippines to showcase both sides of their heritage! What we got:First we had the inari poke- these little bean curd pockets of deep fried tofu, rice, topped with spicy mayo and garnished with roe and scallions is a dynamite of all flavors and is honestly my new favorite thing! We also got tofu poke but with crab meat because we love seafood, but of course for all our vegetarian/vegan friends you can ask to customize your poke to your preference!Next the tuna sisig in a sizzling plate is a homage to Filipino cuisine, and as a Filipino myself I loved this dish so much! They also proudly serve Huli Huli chicken which is Hawaiian chicken barbecue with that pineapple, ginger and soy sauce marinade. Perfectly sweet and refreshing, I think everyone needs to get this!Lastly we got the crispy spam musubi cos it won’t be a Hawaiian feast without spam!Service is also fast and everyone is so welcoming and accommodating!“

“I love this place. Owner and workers are awesome. But I have to give them 4 stars. I was there this morning and one of the customers in front of me was vigorously scratching his hands and body then placed his arms on the shelf above the food. When I told him not to do that because it's UNSANITARY. He then blew up and the workers made it look like it was my fault. That's fine, because maybe they didn't see what happened. I am no beside myself on reporting this to the heath department.“

“After some time visiting our go to Filipino restaurant in Lomita and after they changed location, raising prices, and deciding to go full blown commercial, decided to take a drive to Cerritos and pay 'Pinoy Pinay' a visit and give them a try.Me and my family came with a healthy appetite for Filipino home cooking.Being our first time not really knowing the outcome observed the many people visiting this spot. The smells and displays of their food was quite tantalizing. They have a large variety of dishes to choose from and our favorite is curry chicken, chicken/pork Adobo, pork menudo, pancit, lumpia, and I love binagoongan (which to my disappointment they didn't have today). My wife and daughter got their special combo with Curry chicken, grilled pork skewers which came with 3 scoops of rice. One bag of Lumpia and sweet dipping sauce.I got their special combo with Filipino menudo, pork Adobo, and the 3 scoops of rice. One of the servers behind the hot cases asked if I wanted their free bowls of homemade soup (being that I love soup) "Yes please" she also asked if my wife wanted one as well for she was ready to pay without getting any. She turned it down knowing she wouldn't finish it.After getting our food we selected a booth and started to enjoy our meals. To all of our surprise, everything was delicious. I was disappointed in the soup for it was just a tad bit on the vinegary side. I have had the chicken soup at our old Filipino go to restaurant and enjoyed it there, however here, was not for the taste palette. With the soup being too vinegary and their fish sauce/vinegar bottles on the dining tables needing a little tending to (could use to change to a more convenient dispenser), being my only gripe, I give this restaurant a 4 star.Restaurant was clean, organized, and had great service. We will be coming back to check out more items on the menu.Great Filipino food Pinoy Pinay!“

“7/11/22 Review is only for their Chicken AFRITADA. I should rate it at a 4.5 star!! Oh my! My auntie ordered it and shared a huge portion of it to me and it was oh so good & hearty that I had to place a review on it. No photo unfortunately because it was all gone. For a moment I thought it was home cooked by my aunt because it tasted so hearty & delicious, so savory & full of flavor. As I mentioned I thought it was cooked by my auntie that I didn't bother to take a photo-I only found out after it was all gone that it was ordered from Ofie's. If this is a previous of what they offer, I can't wait to taste their other catered food. It's so good, I should order another Afritada dish!“

“First Filipino place I've been to that is actually a nice restaurant and not just a little mom-n-pop shop with a couple tables and a bunch of different dishes sitting under over a warmer or under a heat lamp. The food was great ? We started with lumpia, of course! Then I had the Bulalo. Ot was perfect! Definitely coming back to try some more! They have live music ? too. And they said they'd be opening up their newly remodeled bar ? area next week. Gotta check that out!“

Daniela's Kitchenette (Inside of Fresh Catch Market) Filipino •
11618 South St, Artesia

“Went here on a Friday morning because I was craving Asian food after primarily eating American food for the past 4 days on a cruise ship. There were already a ton of options to choose from despite arriving there at 9:45 am. Two item combo. Grilled pork, Jeprox (salted, dried smelt fish) with garlic rice ( $13.99): the pork was tender and juicy with a decent amount of fat. The jeprox was crispy with the typical salty flavor, but it was even better when vinegar was added. The garlic fried rice was fluffy with mild garlic flavor. Overall, it was an 8/10 rating. The ambiance is relaxed, as it is on the right side within the grocery store with plenty of tables to dine in, and about half of the patrons take their food to go. The service was fast and attentive. I'd return here after my next cruise.“

“Decided to stop on by and grab some lunch here. I don't often eat Filipino food, but I was craving it so I decided to grab the lunch special (beef short ribs) and vegetarian Kare Kare. The beef short ribs come with a small soup, small salad, white rice or garlic rice and a couple of mini Shanghai lumpia rolls. The ribs were delicious! Very juicy and flavorful, with the meat being tender. The salad is a regular salad, nothing of note, but it was fine. The other main dish I had was the Kare Kare! This had a great peanut taste. The vegetables were also fresh and with a good flavor. I was satisfied with the Kare Kare, but one thing I did notice was the high amount of cabbage/lettuce. I wish they swapped that with other peppers to make it even better. I was very happy with the food here, and if you're looking for some good Filipino food, this is a restaurant to go to!“

“Grabbed takeout from Kainan Sa Kanto in Stanton's Smart & Final Plaza. The BBQ chicken and pork skewers were full of flavor and quite tender. The lumpiang shanghai was crispy, just the way I like it. Also, tried the leche flan, which was creamy and satisfying. However, the puto bumbong could use some improvement in texture. Minimal dine-in seating available. Ordering by phone was easy, and the person taking the order was friendly. Overall, a decent spot for Filipino takeout if you're in the area.“
