Great sushi quality of the fish was great
The atmosphere inside is a great homie and warm feeling! Takes me back to Japan in a nostalgic way. ORDER THESE 2 DISHES IF YOU COME:
1. Scallop kiwi - super refreshing and smooth. Great for summer
2. Miso black cod - Amazing flavor with the miso. Super tender fish and great assortment of vegetables with it.
Only knock is the sushi bar was a bit slow to make the sushi, but it was also packed… for a Monday night, which was also impressive in its own right
Plenty of well prepared sushi and sashimi options. The atmosphere is a little cramped and chaotic in our experience but the food is delicious which keeps people coming back (even lining up outside before opening).

The IZAKA-YA by Katsu-ya in Manhattan Beach offers very fresh and delicious sushi. The atmosphere is unique and beautiful, with tight seating and a lively sushi bar. The service is great, friendly, quick, and attentive. Many dishes are highlighted, including the lunch special of black miso cod, the Chirashi lunch special, and the Spicy Tuna Lemon roll. The sashimi, blue fin tuna, yellowtail, kanpachi, and chili edamame are also very good and fresh. Portions are large and the prices are fair, reasonable, and a pretty good deal for the quality. It is a great spot for both dining in and taking food to go.
