They have outdoor & indoor seating with the indoor seating being a little more elegant like an old time pub. It wasn't too busy around 7:30 AM in a unusually warm Saturday at the end of February, but got busier as I was finishing & there was a line of people waiting by 10:30 or so. I went here because this was a very popular restaurant during the late 80s & 90s, open 24/7 like The Pantry, but with beach culture. Located near Manhattan Beach Pier. It has indoor seating with large open windows to get that fresh ocean breeze. Service is warm and friendly.
Although it's a brewery and has multiple screens with different sports playing, they serve more than just pub food. Their menu offers lots of yummy options. Also note they have a good happy hour menu.

The grilled citrus salmon was excellent with just the right amount of crust. Not overcooked. It comes with salad and rice.

The spicy Chipotle chicken pasta was very flavorful. I really enjoyed it and world order it again next time.

The churro bites comes drizzled with caramel. It's warm and fluffy and it's gluten free. Definitely enjoyed it.

Prices are reasonable, portions are adequate.

Parking is a bit challenging in the area. If you can't find street meter parking, go to the underground structure or near city hall parking.

Reservations are recommended especially on weekends or if there's a sports event.“

The Pan Seared Aegean Branzino, Crab Cakes, and Lychee Rose Cake were all amazing. We found the King Crab-Stuffed Shrimp to be just okay, and likely wouldn't order it again. The cocktails were mixed well and tasted refreshing

Love the new additions to the menu, particularly the Mini Steak French Dips. The Chicken Parmesan was excellent with the twist of those ‘pepper-like sweet’ tomatoes. “We were a party of 6 and a large booth lent room for all of us. Wait staff brought beverages, menus and stated the specials.

After placing our orders, from kitchen to table was a very reasonable time of 5 to 10 minutes.

Food was served in large ceramic baskets lined with food service paper. The paper in the baskets gave it an old fashioned kind of vibe.

The basket of fries was hot, crispy and perfectly seasoned.

I ordered the Hula Burger that was topped with two generous pineapple rings and teriyaki sauce that made the burger pop!

A pal ordered a Cobb Salad with bacon bits on the side and Balsamic vinegar dressing, hold the Blue Cheese please.

Another guest ordered the grilled cheese, toasted and real cheddar cheese! It came with a side of fries.

Ample room for customers but not great for larger parties. I only noticed booths that can handle 6 guests comfortably. Large screen TV’s to catch the game!

There is a full service bar that carries a selection of Domestic and Imported beers both in bottles and on tap. There was also an array of spirits including wine and mixed drinks.

This location is in the Manhattan Beach Mall on the outside of the mall with access to the mall through a side entrance. Good for walking off all those delicious calories!

“Simply a wonderful ice cream and candy store with old school charm.

With different types of frozen bananas, cookies, and, of course, house-made flavored ice cream, this is a bit of a paradise. Personalized ice cream sandwiches also adorn the menu, or a nice ice cream shake.

For the seasoned, there are also hand-packed cartons available.

Their ice cream is something special. There are seasonal flavors and your old school favorites. The cartons change often, so multiple visits are warranted.

For an ice cream lover, I would have to say there is a good balance of overrun and fat content. The structure has a good, solid mouth feel without too much compactness. I especially like how their chocolate flavors give a sense of cocoa and not just commercial sugary chocolate. Seasonal flavors also fall in line with the same attention to detail.

Stay away from corporate-run chains and give your love for a cold treat to folks who have a passion for it.“

“Ordered a giant takeout order for my coworkers - 27 items. The order was filled on time, was fresh and delicious, and similar but different items were labeled so as not to cause confusion. Great experience, and will continue to get food from there.“

“The Baseline: The Ice Cream/Gelato Baseline consists of having quality dairy product, variety of flavors/mix-ins, and serving quantity for the price. Handles goes over the baseline on all marks.

Update (September 2025):
Food: I got 2 hand packed quarts and a single bowl tonight. The quarts were “Strawberry Cheesecake Chunk” and “Ohh Dough made with Oreo” which are one of there awesome flavors. The Single cup was Cotton Candy which is the sugar hit and a half with creamy goodness. Best and Favorite Ice Cream!

Service: Fast, friendly Handel’s staff made it fast and efficient.

Ambiance: Manhattan Village is a fun safe place to hang out. I love that Handel’s is a part of that atmosphere.

Update (August 2025)
Food: This is my favorite ice cream place! I always forget to check in on my apps because I am excited to get Handel's. Tried the Blondie Sundae today for the first time and it was a sugar sweet indulgence but it was goooooooood! Also the group got a single scoop and a 4 scoop sampler (which is the best way to try flavors).

Service: Great customer service by the employees at Handel's. Great friendly staff even when they are swamped.

Ambiance: The Manhattan Village lawn area is the ambiance and it is awesome in summer.

I love Handles and it is my favorite ice cream spot! Handles goes over the baseline marks!

Food: The ice cream base (dairy and non-dairy) is of very high quality where the milk/cream ratio is make the ice cream smooth and silky (not gummy). If you can get a purchase quart into a decent freezer it will firm up but still be easy to scoop. The variety of flavors are awesome with unique offerings (my favorites are Graham Central Station, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie, and Blueberry Cobbler). The serving sizes will vary per order but if you use a 1 scoop as your metric you are getting a scoop+ with each order. I suggest the 4 scoop sampler if it is your first or fiftieth time here so you can get variety.

Service: Service is straight forward and to the point. Friendly but be prepared to know what you want, but easy to do since there is usually a line so you have time to figure it out. The will let you try a sample or two but you can’t sit there to go through all the flavors and I usually try the seasonal offerings when I am there.

Ambiance: This is a walk up ice cream stand with no dedicated seating, but it is in the Manhattan Village quad and that is where you want to hang out anyway.

Go here for ice cream, pick up quarts for $14 because it is worthy of a spot in your freezer.“

“Definitely a higher end establishment, but the drink sizes are pretty large for the prices. Would like to shout out Bethany, who saw me in rough shape coming from hot yoga and immediately gave me water with ice and salt and then proceeded to bring my drink to me. She really showed concern and made sure I was taken care of. When you walk into this location, you see Psalm 103, and I think the employees here really reflect that.“

Turkey Club: was a large toasted cheesy sandwich. And overall had nice ingredients inside of it. Plenty of fries came with the order.

Jute Burger: a large half pounder. For five dollars extra, I ordered bacon and it came with five slices of crispy pork. The ingredients inside were fresh and filling.

Korean BBQ Tacos - generously filled with meat and toppings. Serrano peppers on side made it absolute delicious.

Salmon Crudo - fresh light fish, popping with flavor. Good starter with a nice contrast of crispy chips.

Overall, a good to great hotel restaurant. With so many great restaurants in the area to choose from, Jute should not be overlooked.“

“If you’re into juices, this is your place. I usually come for their different shots like “Energy” and “Recovery”. Their premade juices are great too. This particular location does not offer the non-dairy soft serve however. Overall, this place is small, but it covers most of your health juice needs.“

“The Baseline: For a desert shop the flavor of offerings must out-weigh the taste of pure sugar, there must be unique/rare offerings that drive me to go there, and the value of the desert must be balanced with the fact I probably just finished a meal.

Food: Tasty cupcakes with a slightly higher price tag. ATM them at 4AM if you need a cupcake fix. I got the Vietnamese Coffee cupcake which was good but a little too sugary. Need to try others to really make a final verdict.

Service: Great service from the employees and there is a self service ATM for cupcakes so it is 24/7 cupcakes if you need them.

Ambiance: It is a fun little shop that is straight to the point… getting a cupcake. This is a fun stop for a desert after getting a meal in the Manhattan Village.“
