“We ordered the chicken shawarma plate from the “Grill” section and chose hummus as our base and then babaghanouge and muhammara (roasted red pepper and walnut dip) as our 2 sides. We also got some freekeh (toasted green wheat) on the side.
Simply put, this was a masterpiece. Every time I eat this type of cuisine, I start re-evaluating all the years I spent without Middle Eastern food. About how much of a shame it is that I discovered this amazing food so late in life. But no point in lamenting the past—we must look towards the future and get ourselves excited about how much Middle Eastern food we will consume moving forward!
Anyway, let me start talking about the food forreal now. The corn and edamame salsa was incredibly fresh, springy, and each kernel of corn and each edamame bean had an incredible crunch and sweetness to it that definitely complemented the meaty chicken. The chicken was nicely spiced but could have been a tad bit warmer, I thought. Nonetheless, great flavors and seasoning. The hummus was absolutely delectable. Velvety smooth, perfect amount of bitterness and nuttiness from the tahini, nicely seasoned, and adequately bright from the lemon juice and fruity olive oil.
The freekeh was a nice surprise. I had never had freekeh before, and the individual grains were so bouncy and juicy that I had to re-think my rice-centric grain worldview. The seasonings made the side feel like a complete meal of its own—the grain had a base of roasty, toasty nuttiness that went amazingly well with the smooth outer coating of olive oil (presumably) and warm, Middle Eastern spices. Perfect with any of the three dips or their house-made sauces.
Speaking of the dips, the muhammara and babaghanouge were perfect as well. Everything had a healthy drizzle of the most fruity, fresh olive oil ever, which only heightened the deliciousness of each dip. The muhammara was very sweet, which let me know that the red peppers were indeed roasted super well. The babaghanouge was also super smoky but rather chunky, which made for a textural delight and contrast from the very smooth hummus. And when combined with the soft, pillowy, and comforting pita bread… So perfect.“

“Koubby (think kibbee), balls, football-shaped, cracked wheat outer shell with perfectly seasoned ground lamb, onion and pine nut filling is my all-time favorite. Tabbouleh Salad, Gyros, Falafels, Onion Rings, amazing shakes and refreshing lemonade also worthy!“

“I and two friends dined at Chelokababi Restaurant on Saturday evening, December 17, 2022. It was our first experience at this beautiful and comfortable establishment, and we were impressed with the food and service. I and one friend had Geymeh Bademjoon, which was delicious and very satisfying. My other friend had Shish Kabob with salad, and he said he enjoyed it. I would dine here regularly if I didn't live in Seattle!“

“🌯 The Gold Standard for Authentic Shawarma
If you are looking for the best shawarma in the area, look no further than Shawarmaji. This place serves what I can honestly say is the best shawarma I have had to date. The meat is perfectly seasoned and slow-roasted to a juicy perfection, and the wraps themselves are incredibly hearty and filling. Whether you go for the chicken or the lamb, you are getting a massive portion that satisfies even the biggest appetite. It was so delicious that I found myself ordering a second one to eat before I even left the building—it is genuinely that addictive.
🍯 Fantastic Signature Sauces (That You Can Buy!)
The real secret to their success has to be the sauces. They are absolutely fantastic and elevate the entire meal. Their garlic toum is legendary—thick, creamy, and packed with that bold garlic punch that every shawarma lover craves. They also have a spicy shatta that adds the perfect level of heat without being overwhelming. A major highlight for me was discovering that they actually sell their sauces in-store. Being able to take a jar of that toum home is a game-changer for my own home cooking!
⚡ Exceptional Service and Friendly Staff
Beyond the food, the experience was made even better by the people working there. The staff were really friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Even though they were busy, they were quick to cook the food and took the time to offer great suggestions on which wraps and pairings to try. It’s rare to find a spot that balances high-speed service with such a hospitable and helpful attitude. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food and the satisfaction of their customers.
Filling Portions: You definitely get your money's worth here; one wrap is a full meal in itself.
Speedy Cooking: Despite the high quality, they manage to get orders out very quickly.
Pro Tip: Ask for extra pickles—they add a perfect crunch and acidity to the rich meat and sauces.
Authentic Vibes: The flavors stay true to traditional Jordanian-style street food, which is hard to find done this well.
👍 Overall Recommendation
Shawarmaji is a definitive 5-star destination for any food lover. The combination of superior flavor, friendly service, and the ability to buy their amazing sauces makes it a standout. It is the kind of place that you’ll want to visit again and again. If you haven't been yet, make it a priority—you might just end up ordering a second round like I did!“

“Been coming here since they opened. Lemon slices with water is awesome but I do have one complaint is the recent change to their chicken sumac recipe changed and my kids can’t eat the new saltier and spiced up recipe. Even the chicken shawarma is kind of spicy now and unable to feed to children. I hope you can fix this.“

“Friendly service, clean restaurant and yummy food. Lots of choices on how to fill your bowl and the complimentary soup cup is a nice way to start or add to the meal. I also was able to try the viral Dubai Chocolate I've been hearing about. Expensive for the amount you get but cheaper than buying a bar! It was too sweet for my taste and I would have preferred more pistachio flavor but now I know what people are talking about!“

“I walked in Friday last week and I was immediately greeted by Carmen with a smile that made me feel very welcomed.
She asked how I was and walked me through the menu suggesting the new lamb and beef combo. She made sure that all my needs were met even after I had finished paying.“

“This place is great! Feels like authentic Israeli street food. The prices are very reasonable with good portion sizes. The food tastes so fresh and really delicious. We had the shawarma hummus plate, shnitzel pita, falafel, and fries. All were delicious and I'd recommend! The best of the bunch of definitely the shnitzel pita.
The only down side is it's all semi-outdoor picnic seating, however they have heaters up so it's not too cold to sit and enjoy your meal.“

“I go here basically every day, and usually get the rice bowl with brown rice, BBQ chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and kale. On occasion I’ll get the fries bowl, which is really good; crispy and fresh. It’s healthy, tasty, quick, and affordable food on campus. I would definitely recommend “

They have great customer service and a friendly staff. We always feel welcomed. If we order food to-go, it’s always ready on-time. We highly recommend this restaurant. It’s best to make reservations if you’re attending this restaurant on the weekend.“

“Maiwand Village is a great spot if you're looking to explore authentic Afghan cuisine. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between casual and inviting, making it a suitable place for both family dinners and casual outings with friends.
The kabob menu are definitely the highlight. The Chicken Kabob and Tikka Kabob are not only flavorful but also cooked to perfection, and the fact that they serve them with rice, salata, and naan adds a nice touch. It feels like a complete meal that respects traditional Afghan dining.
I also appreciate the variety—having options like the Qabili Palau and the Trout Fish gives diners a chance to try different flavors. The prices are reasonable, making it accessible for a wider audience.
The staff is usually friendly and attentive, which enhances the dining experience. Overall, Maiwand Village seems to capture the essence of Afghan hospitality and cuisine well, making it a worthwhile choice. Kids friendly environment.“
