“Not surprisingly for a Bay Area spot that’s been around for 15 years, both the flavor and overall quality are really solid, and the value is genuinely great. This time I got to try several of their new dishes, and honestly they were all surprisingly good. The flavors felt very authentic — not the kind of “new dishes” that were added just for the sake of launching something new, but dishes you can tell were carefully developed. Overall, everything from the taste to the pricing felt really satisfying. It’s the kind of place you quietly remember after the meal and know you’ll come back to. And the owner is genuinely so nice!!!!“

“We love this place! We’ve been here a few times, and the food never disappoints us. The restaurant is very spacious with a large variety of food. The flavor is very authentic. Malatang tastes great and comes with plenty of meat and veggies. I highly recommend the brown sugar rice cakes.“

“Good food. The braised beef noodles soup had good broth and a good portion of toppings but the noodles are not hand pulled. While not bad, good hand pulled noodles are so much better. We also had the pumpkin pancakes which is basically mochi with sweet bean center dumpling and pancake syrup. Tasted good but not outstanding. My wife loved the beef rolled pancake. It was very good with a nice balance of flavors. We also had the spicy woodear mushroom which has a slightly vinegary salad taste with a bit of spice.“

“Wei's Fish has delicious sauerkraut Fish soup at a good price. They have both spicy and non-spicy options. Steamed rice comes included for free when you dine-in. One large fish soup is plenty for a family of 3. It is also kid-friendly with kids meals that have hot dog and spaghetti and they give younger ones a colorful pinwheel souvenir.“

“I don’t know who these people are that are giving XLB anything less than 4 stars but we’ve been here countless times and it’s our favorite dim sum in the area! Get to know the owner and you’ll be glad you came here often enough to get to know her. She’s the best! We come here often on Sundays but we also come for lunch on Christmas Eve with our family. Our favorites include the Mixed Cilantro with Dry Shredded Tofu, Mixed Fresh Cucumber with Garlic Sauce, Szechuan Chili Oil Wonton, XLB, Green Onion Pancake, Pea Shoots.“

“All dishes are spicy, the restaurant is consistently busy, and cook times can vary— stop the complaining. That said, the food is traditional, authentic, and flavorful. The sliced beef combo in spicy sauce is my wife’s favorite, while I particularly enjoyed their take on the ribs. The sautéed frog, however, was our least favorite dish. Recommended (for spicey aficionados)“

“Great Sichuan food and great atmosphere. I got five dishes and I recommend all of them:
- Tender Beef in Spicy Sauce
- Kung Pao Chicken
- Pork Fried Rice
- Dandan Noodles
- Dry Cooked String Beans
If you’re not a fan of spicy, feel free to omit the Tender Beef in Spicy Sauce, but you are truly missing out.
Service was also great! Very attentive and kind :)“

“The service is just from being overwhelmed from called in orders. Impatient people not used to waiting for cooked food, it’s not microwaved food and it’s quality so you can’t argue, many restaurants are microwaved with frozen meat which makes a hard center, this place actually cooks with skill where it’s made right for health, it not oily it’s protein from the meat.“

“After visiting so many hot pot restaurants, I still prefer this place. They have renovated it again, giving it a unique charm. The service is friendly, the environment is clean, and the quality of the dishes is excellent. I have been here many times. Today is my daughter's birthday, and she asked for hot pot. I brought her here, and she also loves it.“
