“I recently dined at this Chinese restaurant and was very impressed. The service stood out right away — the staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made thoughtful recommendations and were quick to accommodate special requests without hesitation.
As for the food, it’s refreshingly authentic compared to many places in the area. The flavors are well-balanced, not watered down or overly sweetened to fit a “Westernized” palate. Dishes tasted like what you’d expect in China, with the right seasonings, textures, and cooking techniques. Even small details, like the way the vegetables were prepared and the depth of flavor in the broths and sauces, showed a true commitment to traditional Chinese cooking.
If you’re looking for genuine Chinese cuisine served with great hospitality, this is a place worth coming back to again and again.“

“Solid spot for grub. Had the combo fried rice and beef w/broccoli. Both were tasty but overpriced for the portion size.
Place was spotless and mostly empty, prob because it was past lunch hour (3:20). Service was courteous and my order was taken quickly. Food was brought out hot.“

“Shanghai Restaurant – Santa Barbara
I lived in China for a few years, and this is the only restaurant in Santa Barbara that comes close to offering truly authentic Chinese food. The flavors and variety of dishes are unlike anything you’ll find within a 30-mile radius.
The owner is full of personality and makes sure the restaurant has a warm, friendly atmosphere. She takes time to get to know her customers and is incredibly attentive to detail, which really sets this place apart.
If you love Chinese food—and especially if you’ve been frustrated with the options around Santa Barbara—this spot is an absolute must-try.“

“How could you go to the pickle room and not get a pickletini? You can’t! A delicious night cap at what feels like a local joint. It was packed but we got a seat on the booth at the back of the room near the end of the bar. Feels so homey and relaxed, the waitress was so kind. The pickletini was the best I’ve ever had and the pickle garnish was a perfect and necessary touch! I might just go back tonight for round two 🥒🍸“

“China Pavilion is hands down one of my favorite restaurants ever, and absolutely my favorite place to get dim sum. The food and tea are always delicious and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Everything is delicious, but some of my favorites are the shrimp and chive pies, Szechuan wontons, baked bbq pork buns, and egg custard buns“

“It’s just a regular Panda Express, though i would say some of my rice was a little bit dry but it didn’t bother me that much. Pretty cheap, good place to go if you’re a student like me. I paid $13 for a plate and a small drink, I could say that they could add more stuff to make the atmosphere less, plain?Staff was nice, another good thing is that this place is a lot less busy than the one in la cumbre since most people go all the way over there and forget there’s one in state but other than that, it’s just a normal Panda Express?“
