“Found this gem randomly and I am so glad I did. The bartender was so nice and helpful. The fish tacos were amazing and exactly what I was looking for. All of the staff were so nice and attentive. “My wife and I came to visit Monterey for the weekend and stayed at the red lion on our second night. The urban kitchen is located on site at the hotel. The owner/host Renee was gracious and friendly. He went out of his way with service. Also the food was delicious enjoyed the artichoke enchilada and seafood soup!! “The best fresh food around. I really don’t go out to any other restaurant anymore because of what I have here. I know the quality of the food the way I will be treated and the cleanliness of this restaurant. In 4 years I never had a bad meal or something that is wrong. “Had a great meal and our server Jose was a pleasure. Food service was quick and as always there are options for everyone as the CPK menu is huge. I would say 1/3 of the restaurant was open at lunch, so no wait. They seemed to be staffed appropriately and this was a Monday at 1pm. No complaints and only compliments. There is outdoor seating with heaters if that’s your preference.“

Thin crispy crust, cooked all the way to the center. (This is a must for me!) Toppings were cooked to perfection. The amount of toppings was generous. My tastes buds were extremely happy with the flavor! I had pepperoni and red onions, my bestie had the fig and prosciutto with hot honey, which sounds like an unusual combination, but I tasted it and my taste buds approved this one also.

Service was a 10. We were greeted by the chef in the kitchen, as we walked up! Then by a server, then by the server that would be ours, Casey. He was very personable and took the time to actually visit with us for a short time and get to know us.

We chose to sit outside in the gorgeous weather, so I can’t tell you about the inside, but the outside tables were very clean and the chairs comfy to relax in.“

“I wanted to write the perfect review but I won't be able to do that. The people there were so nice and so warm. The location is in an old house in historic downtown Pacific Grove. But I can't let this go, the prices were high (as expected) and then they did the old trick of, "Did you want chorizo with that"....without telling you it's a $6 upcharge for two teaspoons added on top of your $17 plate of chiliquilies. So for $23, you get a full plate, I mean piled high of tortilla chips covered in a homemade red sauce (delicious). A table or teaspoonful of queso fresco per the recipe (delicious), two fried eggs, and sour cream on the side, (awesome). Most recipes for this dish that I've eaten will offer a choice of protein. Chorizo is a very common breakfast protein for this recipe. I would argue that it should be part of the recipe regardless but if you ask people, "Do you want chorizo on that?", many will say yes for the reasons I mentioned above. But when the bill comes watch out. It was a $6 upcharge to my $17 choice of breakfast. If it's an upcharge you have to tell me in advance. "Do I want it?", is one question. "Do I want it for the price you will charge me?", has to be a separate question. If it's some amount that high, an extra 1/3 of the price of my breakfast, then you shoudl feel extremely obligated to tell me how much. Don't make me feel like an a-hole bringing up your sketchy business upcharge practices to you in the middle of a super-packed breakfast/brunch rush when you hand me the bill. I didn't bring it up but I wanted to, very badly. As good as the meal was the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and more than a week later I'm still shaking my head about it. For a place that thrives on tourist and word-of-mouth business, there's no reason for this type of shady business antics which leads someone like me who otherwise really enjoyed this place to go to the trouble of leaving a bad review. I probably won't go back due to this.“

“Attention Mod pizza lovers, this is the same concept where they build a pizza in front of you, but the crust is even better because it is structured and yummy. Immediately upon stepping in, we were greeted with multiple hellos and welcome in’s- that always makes an experience better from the start! After they had put my pizza in the oven, I realized I hadn’t added the crushed garlic and I briefly mentioned it to my boyfriend next to me. The employee heard me and immediately offered to add it and insisted on it which was so kind. As for the pizza, it was delicious- I had a vegetarian pizza, the roasted broccoli topping is the best. The bathrooms were impeccable which made for an overall great experience (p.s. to the girls: there is no mirror!). One of the best parts was the design of the place, as well as the atmosphere. The tall ceiling and windows made the space roomy and “fresh”. The chill indie beachy guitar music made us feel like we were relaxing by the beach as we watched the sun set through the large windows. As for the seating, there are many option. My favorite were the booth tables because there was a comfy back rest (pictured) and were clean. Shout out to the 7pm crew for being friendly, hardworking, and overall great workers!“

“I have eaten here numerous times before and it is always a great place to eat dinner in Monterey. The setting is great because it is located at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove and diners have a great view the ocean while eating dinner. It is a great place to take out of town guests for good food and to get a greater Monterey area experience. This is also a great place for a romantic dinner. If you want to really impress a woman on the first date this is one of the go to places. After dinner you can take your date on a romantic walk around Lover's Point. Before a romantic dinner use the Sunset app on your smart phone to determine when the sunset is and plan accordingly.“

“Such a charming little spot! We stopped by The Tuck Box because my wife just had to go and she was interested in their high tea, which we didn’t get to try this time, but it’s definitely on our list for next visit.

We came for breakfast and ordered a Benedict. They didn’t have any gluten-free options, but the staff were super kind and made it work by serving it over fresh tomato slices for my wife. Had some coffee and the cozy cottage vibes made it all feel like a scene out of a storybook.

The space itself is adorablem great light during the day. Just a heads-up: it’s cash only, so plan ahead before you go.

All in all, a sweet, breakfast spot with friendly service. Can’t wait to come back and experience their high tea next time. ☕️“
