“Haven't been to Porkies in a long time. This was the number one place to take the kids for birthday parties. Hasn't changed much. I forgot how good the fried chicken is.Kid-friendliness: Lots of old school arcade games for kids. Perfect place for a kids party.“

“My friends hyped up Hotboys and they were right! All the food is delicious and has a kick!I found Hot was too much for me - it's drowning in pepper powder that overwhelms the chicken. You think you're fine for a minute, then suffer for the next 10 minutes. Medium Plus is much more restrained and flavorful for me, and is far less powdery. For reference, I am on the mild end of pepper enthusiasts, and authentic ghost pepper is overwhelming for me. Spice levels can vary, and it was much milder when I visited again in 2024.The food options are varied and delicious. The breakfast burrito is generous and filling, but can feel greasy. The sandwich has cole slaw that perfectly balances out the grease. The mac n cheese is excellent, with a unique cheese flavor and good texture. And the etouffee is a nice change-up with a mild kick. There's just a typical Coca Cola soda fountain - I'd love craft sodas like Blaze Pizza has.Staff were very helpful and let me try a hot nugget to discourage me (they were right). Most people like the dark meat sandwiches, but I prefer the tenders. At my most recent visit, I was disappointed by the atmosphere. There's only outdoor seating and a persistent whiff of vomit and decomposing trash.“

“It's been said this is the best Nashville chicken to be had in the bay, and I don't disagree in the least. I enjoy my spicy food, so I sampled the Hot at the suggestion of our fantastic waiter, and eventually ordered the Medium+. Don't want to know what the Hot Hot tastes like. Heat was fantastic, but so was the spice and flavor. The fries could have been an afterthought, but were equally on point, well coated with a tasty seasoning blend.“

“The Bay Area seems to have nice places to have a good chicken sandwich. This is one of the nice places I've tried. The inside seemed a bit empty but lovely with the 'All you need is hot chicken'. Service was clunky but thorough. Waiting time was fine. I did notice that their fry selection is not too extensive. I went with waffle fries and the regular hot chicken sandwich, I believe medium was the spice level. I can recall there were layers of sweetness. The coleslaw was sweet to me, not sure if it was the pickles as well. The flavour was nice. The spice was potent but not extreme; very comfortable while I watched people pass by. Waffle fries were crispy and fresh. The sauce was more on the sweet side but a good layer of flavour. Water and utensils are self served by the doorway. Right in the middle of downtown Oakland. Easily accessible with public transport.“

“Mikko's Tier List Reviews~ Food - Hard to go wrong with the food! Whoever is cooking is talented but tbh it's hard to mess up this type of food. Price - bit expensive for this type of food, which it was 1-2$ cheaper for all items Ambience/Atmosphere - Casual and quick, not much to say Wait time - None when I went, lots of open seats Individual Dish Ratings - Chopped Cheese - Solid overall, flavors were great Tier Verdict - S+ Tier (out of SS, normie grade is 90/100)“

“Another PHENOMENAL experience! It's Alameda Restaurant week so busier than usual but we got in at 6:30 Sat and were out by 7:10. Ordered the burger and chick sando- both have been on our minds for a while but we always get Trips Triple and it felt like we were cheating but man was it worth it! DELICIOUS! Kind of wish we got the Crab Stew/Cioppino because it's looked amazing but we have no regrets with our sandwiches and the awesome Brussels sprouts.“

“Ordering is simple - drumsticks or wings or a combo of them with one side, and choice of two sauces to coat the Korean-style breading. Each gets rice and either pickled radish or a slaw with a lovely, light dressing. The chicken pieces are generously portioned, and the breading crunchy and plentiful.I got to try four sauces in all: spicy hot, spicy curry, soy garlic, and sweet and sour. The spicy hot isn't too hot at first ... but the heat grows on you. The spicy curry was mild and sneakily addictive. Soy garlic was a nice contracts to it, but I think the spicy hot is the more fun choice. The sweet and sour didn't leave much of an impression on me. Overall, the sauces were milder than I expected, but hit the spot.I almost forgot the potstickers starter! Perfectly fried & delicious. I enjoyed nursing a grapefruit soju throughout the meal as well.“

“Oh my the place resembles a true image of a "hole in the wall", but Oh!, don't let the location nor look fool you. The food is absolutely amazing! The chicken will have you thinking, "This reminds me of home!" The sides were delicious too and lastly, the counter staff were very polite and respectful. When I'm in the area, I'm most definitely going to return to, Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken!!!“
“Everything was so flavorful! I had the chicken sandwich and mashed potato balls. As full as I was because of how big that sandwich was I had to finish it because it was so good lol The staff was also really friendly. It feels nice supporting a local business when it's ran by good people.“

“I've been meaning to try Dave's Hot Chicken for awhile after seeing their LA and Denver locations! Went to a show at the Paramount Theater and walked over to Dave's. The menu is pretty simple with their different order packages (Sliders/ tenders with sides). Went for the number 2 which comes with 2 sliders and a side of fires. It's cool you can pick two different spice levels for each slider! Got the Mild and Hot to try ($16 total). The Hot is bearable and you won't be dying for water (it's Extra Hot or higher that will get you to that burn feeling!) You can also order some of their sauce and honey to add on to your sliders and it's bomb! The fries are also cooled perfectly (and you can immediately dig right in without it burning your fingers or tongue). I'd definitely come back here!“

“Our 1st time trying the hot chicken sandwiches with fries. It was good, the HOT was spicy, the Medium was on point. It's difficult to comment on takeout entries as the fries weren't as hot and crunchy as if we ate onsite. With that in mind, next time, we'll dine there. All in all, the sandwiches were delicious“
