“A Hidden Gem That Feels Like the French Quarter Itself! From the moment we stepped into The Quarter in Claremont, it was like being whisked straight to New Orleans. The atmosphere was electric — the scent of Creole spices in the air, the soft hum of conversation mingled with jazz playing in the background, and the decor that looked plucked right out of the French Quarter. I half-expected to walk outside and find a brass band on the corner! We started with the soft-shelled crab and grits, perfectly crisp and full of Southern comfort. The fried catfish topped with crawfish étouffée was rich, flavorful, and absolutely indulgent — pure Louisiana soul on a plate. The roasted catfish with lump crab was delicate yet decadent, each bite melting in your mouth. Even the bread and butter were unforgettable — the sweet Creole butter was so good we could’ve made a meal out of it alone. Our bourbon cocktails were spot-on — smooth, balanced, and crafted with care — and we finished with the bread pudding drizzled in warm bourbon sauce, which was heavenly. Every dish was layered with flavor and heart. A special shoutout to José, our server, who was not only attentive and friendly but truly made us feel like family. His recommendations were perfect! We live three and a half hours away, but honestly, I’d make the drive again just for a date night here. It’s that good. The Quarter doesn’t just serve food — it serves an experience.”

“We decided to have our baby shower at this Tea House. It was such a lovely and wonderful experience! Michael made all the accommodations for our group to color while we chatted over the delicious sandwiches and deserts. The hospitality is the highest rating, not to mention the taste of the tea and food. I think the pumpkin scones and the shortbread cookies were my absolute favorite. I highly recommend having a ladies tea gathering here, as well as coming in with a few intimate friends. Thank you so much to all the staff for making this day special for my friends and family. “The regular pastrami sandwich is HUGE and at the time of this review, about $12. The whole role and succulent meat must have weighed about a pound. The pastrami was not too salty or fatty and pretty tender, like properly cooked pastrami should be. We ordered a small fries (my lesson was learned the last time I came when I ordered a large onion rings and got a literal sackfull) and that was enough for two people. The place is good value and definitely on my list for a quick return.”

“I went to grad school at U. of Hawaii, Manoa and when I moved to So. Cal., I couldn't help noticing the lack of local Hawaiian fooderies. Ono Hawaiian and L&L Hawaiian seemed to be the only game in town, and they served a purpose satisfying my craving. There used to be a Family run place in Loma Linda some years ago, but they disappeared. Gradually, I stopped looking for authentic Hawaiian family places and also stopped eating at Hawaiian restaurants. Now I know Aloha K(ona) exists and the world seems right again. I went with a friend who had the Spam Loco Moco, and I had the Ohana Kalua Pork. I adore, nay, worship kalua pork. Aloha K did not disappoint. Smoky slightly salty kalua pig, 2 scoops rice and a unctuous macaroni side. Nothing more comforting than that unless it was my friend's spam Loco with two over easy fried eggs on top of a slab (literally a SLAB) of Spam on cabbage with 2 scoops rice and the same glorious macaroni. To top off, we both ordered a Spam musubi appetizer - two nori-wrapped bricks of rice topped with, again, virtual SLABS of Spam. This is comfort food at its finest, and the price, compared to Ono and L&L, beats it all. I won't tell you how much because you need to visit Aloha K yourself to find out. Next visit, Chicken katsu.”
