“This small college café provides a variety of coffee and pastries, as well as two public computers for when you need to check e-mails or do quick research. It's also a very convenient location near the bus stop for when you're waiting to leave college. Finally, they provide television and a small selection of movies set up by the staff. “So I've been to Acorn Cafe twice since it opened. Thats not due to any issue on their part, I just rarely have a reason to go to the casino. This reveiw is an amalgam of both trips.

Location wise, it's on the second floor of the casino which isn't so bad. You do have to walk through a small portion of the gambling area but its literally about 15 feet and the floor with the dining areas isn't really loaded with 'casino stuff'. Perfectly safe trip for kids and theres an elevator if you need wheelchair access.

Both times I went the wait for a table was nonexistent and I was seated immediately. The servers are attentive and knowledgeable about their offerings. On my second trip the server noted a dietary preference in one dish and prevented me from ordering another with the same item (onions). Its a small thing, but it saved my meal.

The food itself was quite good. Its a medium price restaurant and I'd argue theyre hitting above their weight class in terms of quality and preparation.

The only star im removing is atmosphere and you'll note that it wasnt enough to drop the overall rating. They need more staff. While the service and food were top notch, any table not actively holding a patron was left holding the leftovers of the previous patron.

Keep in mind that this wasnt a bustling night either time. 2-4 tables with clients. That tells me they need at least one more person to help the servers clear things so they aren't stuck trying to rapidly clean a table for the next person between drink refills and running plates. Its not the servers fault as they only have the two hands.

In the end though, Acorn Cafe is a nice place to get a bite if you're in the area. It provides a stark contrast to the sports bar feel of the restaurant next to it and the fine dining feel of the Saphire Lounge upstairs. Of all the offerings, this is the one id take the family too.“
