Maria Restaurant / Restaurant Maria is truly a great hidden jewel in the center of San Fernando, California. The Mexican food is delicious, and the customer service is excellent!
I ordered the Chicharrón en salsa verde (pork in green salsa) — absolutely mouthwatering. My mom had the famous Menudo, and she loved it. Everything came with large, soft handmade corn tortillas — fresh and perfect with every bite. We also enjoyed their Café de Olla — I couldn’t resist having two and a half cups. Simplemente delicioso! ☕️
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and to top it off, there was live music from two well-dressed golden-age gentlemen singing and playing their guitars — such a lovely touch.

“Oasis for vegetarians/vegans! In the dessert of Chiclana (where everything is fried) a simple place where the cook knows how to cook vegetables! I had ravioli with eggplant stuffing and fresh tomatoes on top, then caponata Siciliana and grilled vegetables. Everything was perfect! Nice people and good price! “This is a little, genuine location. only employs two persons. It was such a wonderful discovery. In particular, we were searching for menudo. They might choose between green and red. The tortillas were made by hand. Although the service is a touch slower, the wait is worthwhile. The michalada was enormous and delicious! There were no kid-friendly dishes available, but that didn't stop my son from enjoying the delicious tacos. There was lots of space to sit, which we adored. There is lots of street parking, although parking is scarce. I will definitely return.“

experience at Don Chon Cafe in Pacoima. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and homemade. You can tell they really care about quality.

The service was just as impressive. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. It’s hard to find places where both the food and service are this consistent.

Definitely coming back and highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and great service in the area!!!“

“This place absolutely slaps. I wasn't able to communicate well because my Spanish is bad but the lady behind the counter was very patient. This birria is absolutely incredible, the meat is moist and the tortillas were so soft!!! Extremely flavorful and the Red sauce has just the right amount of heat. “Tacos El Gordo is always a great stop. The place has a cool vibe with giant Mexican Lotería cards on the walls. Looks way different from when I first came as a little kid. The staff is incredibly friendly. What really stood out about the staff was seeing them offer to walk a handicapped couple out while carrying their to-go food. Small gesture, but it says a lot.

The food is delicious, portions are generous for the price. What keeps me coming back every time is the guacamole sauce. Very addictive!“

“Got a scrambled eggs burrito with avocado. Very tasty, even though a couple people working there were surprised it was on the menu. The sign out front said they had champurrado (similar to hot chocolate), but they didn’t actually. The burrito was the perfect vegetarian option, the beans were whole, which indicates no lard was used. I loved watching and smelling the corn tortillas being made in the main seating area, it seams like a popular spot for handmade tortillas. The restaurant and bathroom was very clean And tidy. Overall a positive experience. I recommend speaking in Spanish.“

“WOW! I was getting a little impatient while waiting for my order, because it was “just a food truck”. But when the food was ready, the care with which they prepared it was evident. We had shrimp tacos, marlin plate, and ceviche. Everything was excellent! My wife said the best shrimp tacos she’s ever had. This quality food could easily be served in a higher-end restaurant.“

“This place was good for for tacos and cold brewskis. The shared parking lot isn’t very big so large groups might have issues finding parking in the same lot. There was a few transients near by which made you feel a bit uneasy but there was no incidents with them. The staff were as friendly as they could be. If you’re in the area I’d check them out.“
