“Idk what Denise is on but this place is amazing. They didn’t have slices available this time that I came in but I got the fruit tart and it was the best freaking fruit tart I’ve ever had. Every piece of fruit was sweet, from the mango to the blueberries. The crust was perfect, not hard and rocky but firm and just kinda melts in your mouth with the cream. It’s not that unnaturally sweet, which is great because the fruit was perfect. Juan is such a great person, and his speciality cakes (which the store was named after) are worth it. They use fresh produce and make the cakes fresh, so of course they’re worth the money. Support your local bakeries, not the ones in groceries stores that are generic and mass produced! You won’t regret it.“

“I ordered a birthday cake for my husband’s birthday and it came out perfect and delicious. Exactly what I asked for. Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse with a cigar and whiskey theme. She made the fedora to match my invitation exactly. Loved that she put an actual glass on the cake to put whiskey in. After we sang happy birthday he drank the whiskey from the glass on the cake!“

“Tastes like childhood- and by that, I mean 1st gen Vietnamese American growing up in Westminster with memories of visiting Grandma in Vietnam and eating Vietnamese pastries from our front porch.

A little stuffy in the tiny bakery bc it's mostly kitchen in there and very little service area. It's one of my favorite places to get vietnamese dessert trays from for parties. Highly recommend and I'm sure they'll speak English to you but this is one of those last few spots holding out and speaking primarily vietnamese inside. Like I said, like childhood (sans fighting for your life to get in front of the line amirite BMCC OGs).

I like the lightness of all their jellies, but my favorite is their bánh bò nướng (honeycomb) and khoai mì nướng (casava root).“

“I was looking for an Oreo cake and this is the only bakery that had one near me. It’s inside the grocery store, near the right side entrance. Everything looked delicious and fresh. But best of all is the service! The kind man that helped me was so sweet and even gave me a few baked goods to go for free. It really touched my heart. Will definitely be back and recommend.“

“I first tried the classic alfajores from Sweet Andes when my husband and I were taste testing for our wedding earlier this year. Ever since I tried Peruvian-style alfajores as a teen, I knew I wanted alfajores for our big day. My parents are from Mexico and I know Mexican wedding cookies exist but I enjoy alfajores much better. I have tried plenty of alfajores over the course of several years trying to find the exact taste from when I had them as a teen, but did not have much luck. I was so happy when I found Sweet Andes and read on their website that they follow a Peruvian recipe! We immediately placed an order and I finally found the taste from many moons ago! We ordered 200 classic alfajores for our wedding in August 2024. Each guest received one and we had 40 left over — all of which were gone before dinner was served! Our guests really enjoyed them. Sweet Andes is now my go-to Alfajores spot!! It is also very easy to place an order and they have fast + friendly communication.“

“The store is so warm and inviting and smells like warm bread. I’ve heard so many great things about this bakery, and was glad to see I could pre-order online at their website. I love how there’s an option to customize and add toppings of your choice. This is probably the best bread I’ve had in the states. I love sourdough bread, but sometimes it’s a bit too tangy/sour. The sourdough here is not tangy nor sour. I usually get indigestion after eating bread sometimes but I feel great:) This place truly lives up to all the positive reviews, and I’m so glad I discovered such a hidden gem! My mom also says she only wants to eat bread from here from now on? I do not have any photos because we started consuming the bread as soon as we got into the car! It’s that good! “I wish I could take credit for finding this place but they are all over social media and like a moth to a flame I came. The señorita bread just hits. It’s sweet and buttery and warm. Put that concoction in an IV bag so I can mainline it. I will most certainly come back for more. Next time I’m picking up a pack of their pilloweee soft rolls they had a display too. I should have just given them my ATM card and PIN # right there on the spot.“

“This is definitely in our top 3 go-to bakeries! You really can't go wrong with any of the goodies you select. My absolute favorite flavor is the salted caramel toffee - if you haven't tried it, you really need to!

Their cookies are really good too. My son's favorite cookie is the sprinkle cookie with the cake pop in the middle.

They also have boozy cupcakes - but we have never tried one before but I'm sure they are good.

And if you have a really special occasion coming up, it may cost a little more to get a cake from here, but it will be TOTALLY worth it! Each time we have gotten a Hapa cake for a special occasion/party - I can't tell you how many people will compliment you in how delicious the cake is and will be asking where it's from. We even had Hapa do my son's wedding cake, and people are still commenting on how delicious their cake was!!!! (*And the wedding was 2 years ago)

You can definitely schedule a cake tasting - I can't remember how much it was - but what I would suggest is that you just buy some cupcakes in the flavors you think you'd like, and do the tasting in the comfort of your own home. I believe that any of their cupcakes can be made into a cake.

“My wife loves getting the puff balls from here. In H-Mart, they do sell bigger one for $2.75. But, in my opinion, I think these $0.65 puff balls...are way better and tastier. They have good selection of korean breads too. Not big on hype like other bakeries. Believe me, once you take your first bite...you will know what I was talking about.“

“Best churros ever! Always fresh to order. Perfect crispness and just the right amount of sugar n cinnamon. Their atole de elote is so tasty too and they go perfect with the churros. Can’t forget their dipping sauce which are Lechera, chocolate, and cajeta. So yummy! Oh and their platano frito with Lechera drizzled on top, omg they are awesome! The bunelos are a great size and super yummy. They also have on the weekends sometimes tres leches or arroz con leche in a little cup that are excellent. So many options here. “Really love this place! They have a lot of variety and really great range of goods. They have every imaginable size of boxes, and individual cake tips, which is way more convenient than the sampler packages. Their cake pans and high quality Fat Daddio pans are WAY CHEAPER THAN AMAZON. I got a 6"x3" fat Daddio cake pan for 8.49 and they were 10.99 each on Amazon the last time I checked. They have pre-made cupcakes, buttercream frosting, simple syrup, and many different types of dyes and sprinkles. I only wish they had some more sustainable options, such as silicone cup cake liners, but otherwise, a very solid bake supply store.“

“This was my first time trying a tart cake, and I was so excited that I drove two hours just to get it. The cake tastes really good, and it reminds me a lot of Napoleon (mille-feuille). If I had one suggestion, it would be for the fruit on top to be a bit sweeter, as some pieces were a little unripe. Other than that, my family and I loved it. The owner was also incredibly sweet and friendly.“

“I've been going to Zocalo since it was Blue Frog Cafe. Mariana, the new owner, is a city local and extremely passionate about caring for this Family Run business!

I can tell you right now the food is FANTASTIC and I can't pick one favorite (the Pot Roast sandwich is giving the rest a run for its money),the chai latte super delicious, and their potato salad is OUT OF THIS WORLD (and if you love potato salad you know how bland it can be).

Sides aren't an afterthought here. Everything is delicious!

The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and never rush you. It's a wonderful meet up place to just be with friends or family--a coveted "third place" to hang out at that's becoming so hard to find after the pandemic.

“We are from Wisconsin and were at Da Vien Coffee nearby. I wanted to get a quick bite before starting our day and found this bakery via Google search. I opted for the Banh Mi Viet Nam - it was so good that all (7) parties from my group had a bite. We ended up going the next day again to get more for everyone. The lady in front (maybe the owner?) was really nice and helpful in recommending new things to try. They were baking pastries in the morning, and saw that the almond croissants were freshly out of the oven, so got one as well. Everything was so good, and we'll try more next time!“

“What a lovely Elite Experience!! Dhamar was absolutely fantastic, she was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. The bakery was spotless and the dessert case looked absolutely delicious. I got the ice Pumpkin Chai Latte and creme brulee. Dhamar made sure to ask if I preferred whole milk or a non-dairy option which I really appreciated. “I've been wanting to find a good panadería and this place is just down the street from me. We went in and a staff member helped us pick out bread, and answered any questions we had - namely what the bread had in and on it - to which he was very friendly in telling us what to expect. But honestly, you can't go wrong with any you pick. We got about 11 pieces for $19 ( 2 were marranitos which are located in the left wall with the sugar cookies). The bread was fresh, soft, and just perfect. I'll definitely be going back!“
