Emma’s Tamales Reviews
I want to start out by saying I've tried all of the local restaurants that serve tamales and every online tamale brand. Emma's are by far the best tamales I have ever tried. They are authentic and delicous. I buy them from California Organics when I'm in Grass Valley and when I'm in Sac, I get them from this location. All the negative reviews are so uncalled for in my opinion. These are unbdoubtely the best tamales I have ever had. I eat them every week! Don't let the negative...read full review
Love these tamales! Appreciate the many options available. They even have tamales for my vegan family members, which you just don't find. And no, cheese is not naturally vegan. Thank you Emma's for an inclusive and tasty tamale experience.
Didn't realize they were Tex-Mex tamales. Pork tamale was either overcooked (tasted charred) had an ingredient I wasn't familiar with. Reviews were great but we weren't fond of the tamales at all . We will NOT be going back.
Response to vendor reply: Tex Mex is what I thought they were, I was wrong & they are Santa Fe. While we did not care for these tamales, it may be personal preference. I think they were nor charred but we didn't care for the flavor.

Emma’s Tamales is a cute little spot near the waterfront in old Sacramento, next to Railroad Fish and Chips. The staff is welcoming and friendly, with one man even bringing water for dogs. The atmosphere created by Joe is inviting, making it a favorite spot for many. Customers have enjoyed the tamales, noting the variety with over a dozen types available, including pork, green chile chicken, beef, and seafood. Many find the prices for the tamales to be very reasonable, especially given the flavor and quick service. While some have mentioned that the tamales may not be the best they've had, they are praised for being moist and flavorful. The homemade salsa is considered phenomenal, and they also offer warm chips for purchase. Although some feel that the salsa and sour cream portions are small, the prices overall are seen as unbelievable. Customers appreciate the option to take home a six-pack of tamales, vacuum-sealed for convenience. Overall, it’s a place that many would visit again for a quick, delicious bite to eat.
