“Walking in and taking in the aroma of the donuts always gets me. Their donuts are hot and fresh. Soft, pillowy, and delicious. They have all the basic donuts and then some. They didn't have any French ones as those are my favorite, maybe it was just that day. Ordering a dozen donuts only includes the basics, jelly not included. I haven't had their coffee, but it's there hot and ready for you. If you feel lucky, they sell lottery tickets for you to indulge. Overall Alvin donuts is ok. “Winchell's has always been a favorite since i was a kid. I grew up in bay area with winchell's but unfortunately they aren't in bay area anymore. The donuts smell & taste exactly as i remember, which are the best!! I love this place! Other reviews mention about bad service but the staff that helped me that day were very friendly.“
“My kids requested we stopped in to see what doughnuts this shop offered on our morning coffee run. My daughter opted out for just a drink and my youngest ordered a few cake doughnuts. There wasn't much of a variety here with bagels or doughnuts. It was disappointing, but the lady in-store was nice. If I was to return, I would come in earlier.“
“A long time staple amongst the community, their donuts are fresh and delicious. Their coffee is fresh and hot. If you want a breakfast sandwich, they have that too. Not bad for Salinas. One thing I don't like is the locals who hang outside in the front making it uncomfortable for my wife who visits every so often.“
“it’s true - everything about this place is high quality ! still the best donut i’ve ever had & i’ve lived in San Francisco, NYC, Los Angeles & Tokyo. Every time I visit my hometown I make sure to stop by my Sunshine Donut for that simple classic donut in a quaint little plaza in South Salinas. None of that hipster cereal or inventive recipes…. just pure nostalgic flavors. Super lovely owner too. Go & support this place, you’ll see why everyone loves it!“
“Later in the day- I think around 3 or 4pm, I ordered a huge chicken and bagel sandwich, made fresh and customized and loved it. Then was able to to order any of their doughnuts or mini doughnuts. They were delicious, and everyone was happy with size and flavor since they were able to get exactly what they wanted. Usually, pick of doughnuts is slim at this time at other places!“
