My vegan lox and bagel was the 💣!!!!
Thrilled to have tried and supported it on opening weekend. Love the idea of it very much.
The Reuben, as is, is a winner. It's not quite as large as comparable offerings (MSM, Follow Your Heart's classic) but it was savory, craveable, and ultimately filling. Would always order this upon visiting.
Unfortunately for us on Round 1, that was about all we really liked.
The half-sour pickles are texturally perfect...but lacked any discernible seasoning other...read full review
Fantastic Jewish eats made completely vegan. All the traditional deli options are present, from Reubens to Black and White cookies. The vegan meats are top tier and the prices more than fair. They have a varied series of sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and snacks to satisfy any pallet for breakfast or lunch. The staff were also very helpful and the food came out quickly. I highly recommend a visit!

Ben & Esther's Vegan Delicatessen is a restaurant that offers vegan alternatives to traditional deli meals. Their Reuben sandwich, bagels, and cream cheese have been highly praised for their taste and quality, with the Reuben being compared favorably to non-vegan versions. The lox bagel is a must-try, and even the gluten-free bagel is described as perfectly soft and ample for a bagel sandwich. Customers have found the bagels to be out-of-this-world delicious, and the vegan fillings for sandwiches are seen as pure genius. They also serve vegan versions of traditional Jewish dishes such as matzoh ball soup, which has been noted for its massive portion size and the chewy, broth-soaked texture of the matzo balls. The deli is known for its black and white cookies, which are recommended not to be skipped.
Although the prices are on the higher side, the large portion sizes and fresh ingredients make it worth it. Customers have enjoyed dishes like Egg, Cheese, and sausage on everything bagel, and the turkey bacon club, which is jam-packed with vegan meat and has generous portions. The limited seating is noted, but the quality of the food, including the excellent Reubens and flavorful sandwiches like the steak, egg, and cheese bagel and latke, egg, and cheese bagel, makes Ben & Esther's Vegan Delicatessen a favorite spot for many, even non-vegans. The restaurant brings New York Jewish deli culture to the west coast, with friendly staff and memorable experiences. While sides options may not look too appetizing, the quality of the main dishes makes up for it, and many find it worth the price despite it being on the higher side.
