“Having spent time in many villages in the Gorkha district and having close Gurung friends, I can say with confidence that Gurung Kitchen is absolutely perfect. The food is incredible — traditional, authentic, and beautifully prepared. Every dish feels like it was made with care and love, just like in Nepal.
The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with lovely flower and butterfly decorations that make the space feel warm and special. You’ll notice that many of the guests are Nepali, which tells you how true to home the flavors are.
The service is gentle, kind, and attentive — you really feel taken care of here. This is a restaurant that serves not just food, but genuine hospitality and culture.
Definitely a must-visit in San Francisco. I’ll be coming back every time I’m in the city!“

“Nepa graciously accommodated our reservation of 15 mixed age revelers. The hospitality and service were top-notch, they allowed for special wines brought in with corkage, and helped pace the meal, which was served family style at our request. Loved the tikka masalas, the naan, chai - everything we ordered. We so appreciated all our gracious servers. We will be back.“

“Sunset Indian Restaurant, has taken over the former Naan N' Curry location, and the transformation is impressive. The interior has been thoughtfully updated with attractive décor, a carpeted dining room that softens the space, and the welcome addition of two bathrooms — a definite improvement for guests.
I especially appreciate that they now offer beer on tap, which pairs nicely with their menu. The wine selection is also solid, providing good options to complement the meal.
As for the food, the Lamb Biryani is easily a 5+ star dish. The rice is light, loose, and beautifully aromatic, with just the right level of spice. The addition of cashews adds a subtle richness and texture that really elevates the dish. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Palak Paneer, which was prepared with a creamy, well-balanced sauce and a generous amount of paneer.
An added treat was the plain naan — simple yet perfectly done — which complemented both dishes wonderfully and rounded out the meal.
Overall, Sunset Indian Restaurant is a strong addition to the neighborhood, offering flavorful dishes, thoughtful updates to the space, and a comfortable dining experience.“

“The owner is very sweet! I’ve been coming here for almost 3 years, sometimes 3+ times a month🙈🤣 I always get the chicken tikka masala & chicken Cho mein, (I ask for both Spicy but you can get any level of heat you prefer) & a side of the garlic naan. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu but those are my favorite! The owner has always been very accommodating, I’m a picky eater & this is one place I come and know I’m going to get a good meal.“

“Really good Nepalese momo and chwomin there. Recommend everyone to give this a try“
“I’ve tried momos all over the city, but this place is the Steph Curry of dumpling game: all-star, unmatched, and absolutely clutch. The sauce? Legit. Don’t sleep on it -Night Night
I came back from Kathmandu six months ago with a high momo bar... and this spot crushed it. We're talking texture that makes you want to write poetry, proportions that feel engineered by NASA, and flavor so authentic you'd swear it came with a Nepali passport.
The owners? Straight outta Kathmandu, and you can taste their roots in every bite. Plus, they're incredibly sweet—like, the kind of people who’d rescue your dumpling if it fell on the floor.
You won’t be disappointed unless you order too few.“

“I recently visited this Indian restaurant and was blown away by the variety on the menu! From rich curries to sizzling tandoori platters, there’s something for every palate. But what truly stole the show for me were the momos and chowmein absolute perfection!
The momos were juicy, flavorful, and served with a spicy dipping sauce that packed just the right punch. The chowmein was delightfully savory, with a perfect balance of spices and fresh veggies a comforting, street-style classic done right.
Whether you're craving traditional Indian dishes or something with a Nepali flair, this place delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend for anyone looking to explore bold, authentic flavors in a cozy setting!“

“We had a great meal here on a quiet Tuesday night, and I’d love for more people to know what a gem this spot is! The food was tasty — we had a variety of vegetarian dishes — and the service was super friendly. I loved the calming water feature and a lack of screens in the dining room; the presence of screens seems to be becoming the norm at more casual restaurants. Looking forward to coming here regularly!“

“We’ve been to this restaurant 4 times now and it’s always delicious. However; this time, my husband noticed a difference saying “this is the best I’ve ever had.” I agreed. At the end of our meal, the NEW OWNER (who cooked all of our food) shared with us that he just bought the restaurant in October. Wow! VERY IMPRESSIVE as the sauces in the dishes tasted more authentic. My husband and I both traveled to India and love it there, so tasting the same dishes we always get even more tasty was amazing (Chicken Tikki Masala ($15), Lamb Biryani ($16), Lamb Tikki Masala ($15.99), Cheese Naan ($6), Garlic Naan ($5), Chickpea & Potatoes dish (Kadai Channa Masala $11.99) and Streamed Basmati Rice ($4). Seriously! THIS RESTAURANT IS A MUST TO TRY AND ENJOY! The owner said he will soon open a buffet as well. We definitely will be back w/ empty stomachs as we can’t wait to enjoy this authentic Indian restaurant again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
