“Having spent time in many villages in the Gorkha district and having close Gurung friends, I can say with confidence that Gurung Kitchen is absolutely perfect. The food is incredible — traditional, authentic, and beautifully prepared. Every dish feels like it was made with care and love, just like in Nepal.

The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, with lovely flower and butterfly decorations that make the space feel warm and special. You’ll notice that many of the guests are Nepali, which tells you how true to home the flavors are.

The service is gentle, kind, and attentive — you really feel taken care of here. This is a restaurant that serves not just food, but genuine hospitality and culture.

“My family and I had an amazing experience at Sunset Indian Cuisine last night. We love trying new places and this was the one which didn't disappointed us. The ambiance was cozy for a relaxed dinner.
The food we had was so delicious. We started with the noodles, which was amazing with less oil. The Juicy Chicken Momo with chutney on the side was incredible. We also ordered Garlic naan, which was soft and warm, Tandoori chicken, Chicken curry, everything was perfect. The service was perfect with friendly and attentive waiter who was knowledgeable about the menu.
We'll definitely be back to try more of their Indian and Nepalese dishes, and we highly recommend this place to others !“

“The combination of cultural food here is great. Some of the best Indian food I've ever had combined with some unique items from Nepal such as dumplings that seem similar to something you would find at a dim sum restaurant. Overall, the food was outstanding, including high quality sag lamb and great naan bread too.
This is a family restaurant and clearly the people running it care very deeply about providing great service and great food.
Prices are very reasonable too. We had an appetizer, two main courses, and one drink each for a total of $68 before tip.“

The place got very loud and it was difficult to hear conversation across the table at times. Still, it's a great place. I've been there numerous times and recommend Base Camp to friends all the time.“

“The menu covers both Indian and Nepalese dishes. We ordered Tandoori Chicken Kebab, Mutton Kebab, Dal Makhani, Chicken Momos, and Naan. The tandoori chicken and mutton kebabs had a nice smokiness and rich meatiness. The restaurant is also willing to adjust spice levels based on your preference, which is a plus. The chicken momos had a juicy filling and a good texture. The Dal Makhani—a butter-rich lentil dish—was creamy and flavorful. The naan was a bit thick; it would have been better if it were slightly thinner and puffier. We also tried the Nepalese beer, but it wasn’t as good as expected. Overall, the service was pleasant, and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming.“

“Visited on a weekday night with a friend. We had the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, papadum and the wings. I also got the mango lassi which was so so good. Everything was so delicious and we've tried a couple of Indian restaurants in SF already -- this was truly outstanding! It was pretty affordable, service was quick and friendly. “I went for a birthday dinner celebrating my partner and we were a food sensitive, time restrictive, six person loud group. Rose's has an extensive vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free menu! They boasted that almost any vegetarian curry could be made vegan and they were very clear about dishes that didn't contain gluten or cross contamination. We ordered a lot of food and dishes, had a few people order late due to traffic, and watched the restaurant go through what we later learned was 120 orders between take out and dine in. We had to leave about an hour in and hadn't gotten food aside from appetizers so the host allowed us to convert things to take out and come back for them later. They were so understanding and we were expecting push back but they were incredibly apologetic. We came back about 2 1/2 hours later and our food was hot, they let us have a table again, they even remade the naan and let us take home the extras! Then they brought out free rice pudding as a thank you for patience (which we totally didn't expect because we were the ones being inconvenient) and then when we sang happy birthday to my partner they quickly brought out vegan ice cream with a candle and sang! Above and beyond, a night we won't forget and hospitality that came from extremely passionate people. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness and patience with our big birthday group <3. We split the bill between four people and it was only about $40-$50 each which is absolutely so shocking for the volume of food we ate! Everything was delicious, their specialty naan are all wonderful, and they've got some excellent fusion items too. Go outside your normal order for this place; you'll be absolutely amazed.“
