New American Restaurants in San Jose, CA

“What a freaking gem. This spot gives off serious LA or NYC vibes right in the heart of downtown SJ. The decor alone deserves a shoutout: stunning tall ceilings, gorgeous wood and metal accents, natural tones, and even a couple of olive tree centerpieces that ties it all together in a sleek, contemporary way. If you need a date night spot, try to lock in a reservation here.

The elevator bar is probably one of the most unique features I've ever seen, shuttling bottles of liquor from the downstairs bar to the loft bar. The loft area wasn't open yet, but I could already picture it being the perfect place to pre-game and soak in the energy from the restaurant below.

The food is dialed in. New American with a Mediterranean twist. The open kitchen concept is a nice touch, letting you watch your dishes as they're being prepared. Highly recommend ordering family style to share. The octopus is an absolute must--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The lobster pasta was decadent - pricey, but you get huge chunks of lobster that makes it worthwhile. We also ordered the monster ribeye topped with some insane butter, cooked medium rare. If you have a group of 4 or more, do it.

The drinks were fantastic, though more subdued in flavor compared to their other concepts like Paper Plane or Mini Boss. I'd recommend dinner at Eos & Nyx, then cap off the night with a cocktail at one of their other bars.

This is a game-changer for downtown SJ. It really reminded me of Bavel in downtown LA, one of my favorite restaurants ever. Excited to see this place finally open!“

“Yard House is the perfect spot for beer lovers and foodies alike! They have an impressive selection of draft beers, offering something for every palate. The place is massive and usually packed, creating a lively and energetic vibe. Their late-night happy hour from 10-12 PM is a great deal, making it even more enticing. We absolutely loved their iconic onion ring tower and found all their appetizers to be delicious and well-prepared. The drinks and overall atmosphere make it a fun spot to hang out with friends and enjoy a great evening. Highly recommend!“

“Stellar service from a very accommodating waitstaff. The food is always good and at just the right price. The menu is simple, and offers a good mix of basic pizza/pasta fare and salads and steak dishes. They have a good, full bar and a decent wine list.“

“Food was excellent! Flat iron steak was done med rare as ordered. Chicken with cranberry sauce and brussels sprouts was perfect. The delicious apple/caramel bread pudding definitely enough to share. The atmosphere is an older converted garage but it is well worth going for the food!

“Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Great gin cocktail and the shrimp and grits was excellent. It’s a perfectly-sized restaurant inside and picnic tables and umbrellas outsides surely great for brunch. The service was friendly and attentive.

Post St. itself is a mangy but keep faith until you get to the front door—worth it.“

“I’ve eaten here twice with a wide sampling of dishes and Devine is absolutely mind blowing. Their mixtures of flavors is truly a beautiful form of art……and I don’t think I’ve ever said that about any restaurant! Goat cheese and caramel? It’s now a go to for our own charcuterie board at home……Herb infused brittle and cheese? I need to have more! It is truly perfection! Last night we enjoyed their four course meal (i highly suggest two people get their own and split, there’s two choices for the salad/soup, main, and dessert, you don’t want to miss out on anything!). Every bite we took had us stop in awe. Devine is a gem! We even loved that the employees/owners come with laughs and personality. It’s a fun and light environment that added so much more to our experience. As the place got busy, our waiters didn’t waver in his attention for anyone! Cool atmosphere, plenty of standing and sitting room both indoors and outdoors. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of their drinks both on/off menu if fairly good. However, a few cocktails were either extremely sweet or extremely sour to the point of them being barely drinkable.“

The Cioppino was fabulous!!! The garlic bread that came with it was delicious. I had a green salad to start and it too was excellent. Great glass of Zinfandel. And the flourless almond cake with pineapple and vanilla gelato also delicious. They focus on fresh, quality ingredients. Well done!“
