Steamies Bar Bar • $
3403 Pacific Blvd, San Mateo

“Fun and friendly bartenders, cool outdoor pool table, and they now have a taco truck called El Amigo. Their tacos and pupusas are fire. Be careful if you do not like spicy. I like it but I know there are some of us who do not so just let them know if you do not want your tacos spicy and they will accommodate you. They make everything from scratch. Pupusas and a cocktail on the patio during the summer Yesssss!“

“Good for happy hour, cozy and not crowded on a weekday for co-worker meetup. Menu isn't huge though, and salad wasn't very exciting, small, but my friends who got burgers and other less health-conscious items were happy. I appreciate the ease of parking, small shopping area right across from Safeway, and easy access off of the 92/280 junction. Good adult hangout, not for kids, dark inside.“

Route 92 Sports Bar Sports Bar • $

“So this is like a dive sports bar, 4 big-screen TVs inside, outdoor garden with no TV/service. I go with the 5-dollar 24 oz Pabsts (best deal in town). Bartenders are all friendly, fast and professional, and the crowd is usually an older, settled, fun group. Check it out, I say.“

“Have hosted several events here and it never disappoints. Love coming here late night for black light bowling and dance music. The bar inside the bowling alley has great non-alcoholic options and the parking lot usually has a spot or two open.“

Bucky's Cocktail Lounge Cocktail Bar • $

“What can I say , I found my new local bar!!This place rocks with friendly staff and patrons.Great selection of beers on tap and a real pour on hard liquor. Gwen was working the day I came in and was quick to tell me they are planning on opening a restaurant on location that serves pub grub and I can’t wait . The place is immaculately clean and rustic at the same time. Right now you can bring food in from the many restaurants in the neighborhood. Overall just a great vibe, happy to spend my money here.“

“Honestly, as a beginning patron at this establishment, I found the size and friendliness of this Irish pub substantially welcoming ??(that's a two thumbs up). Surviving the restrictions of covid, we all had to make allowances regarding dining. So getting there with some streets still blocked off in San Mateo(to better the businesses survival of our industries) it may take you a few twists and turns to get there so DON'T GIVE UP if your GPS tells you to take a turn and you find it has blockades... Just go another block or two down and you'll find yourself on the right street. Parking is a little strained... But the secret is there a little alley directly across the street from the front door and there's a number of slots avail at NO COST! On Tuesday nights they have an amazing kareoke event, but be prepared to get on the waiting list as my last experience it was pretty much packed... Which I dig cuz the audience participation was like a community. The bartender ALWAYS replaced your glass with a fresh chilled pint glass when you're trying one of their many flavors of draught on tap and was always on duty ready to serve his patrons. Friendly, warm and inviting. I take enjoyed myself and have returned since then. Prices are very fair. I suggest trying the Cali Squeeze on tap on a hot summer day. The essence of orange infused with a malt beverage is so refreshing on a warm day and doesn't seem so heavy when you're hot. I'll be returning.“

“Nice little bar. The beer was cold. Service was good. We were the only ones there though. Happy hour specials would be cool. We liked the feel of the place. It seemed like they were working on it when we were there. We liked the pool tables and the pinball machine. Its a nice dive bar. We will be back.“

3rd Ave Sports Bar & Grill Sports Bar • $$
77 E 3rd Ave, San Mateo

“This place is awesome! Newly staffed and always has sports on EVERY TV (there's like a dozen of them)! Love all the sports memorabilia all over the walls-covered from ceiling to floor but not cluttered or over done. They also have bulletin boards where people can post local current happenings and customers can see events in the area they might want to attend at a later date. Plus they have a great menu-try the burgers! Or you can also order off the Amici's menu and have it served right at your seat!! 18 draft beers-quite the selection! They even have a variety of non alcoholic beers. Something for everyone! Def worth a try, especially to catch a game!!“

Eddie's Sports Bar Bar • $$
215 S B St, San Mateo

“As a regular at Moons for years, I was bummed to see it sold, and was closed for a bit. But wow, what a revamp! Still same dive bar feel, but it's CLEAN, and has a much better beer and liquor selection. Glad to still see some of the same familiar faces behind the bar, and love the new staff from the new owner. Perfect spot to grab a drink before dinner or the movies. And at a much more affordable price! If you haven't stopped by yet, check it out! Pool table, electronic darts, pac man table top arcade game, big projector (perfect for catching games), and credit cards accepted.“
