SEBASTIAN'S is a charming spot near Hearst Castle that is considered a hidden gem. It offers a variety of sandwiches and salads, with highlights including the delicious vegetarian option featuring sun-dried tomato hummus, pesto, and avocado, as well as the popular Californian sandwich, a hearty turkey club with excellent ingredients like pepper jack, bacon, thick-cut turkey, and sprouts. The multi-grain ciabatta bread adds to the appeal, while the crispy canine bread is also notable. Some customers have mentioned that the meat slices can be a bit thick, but the fresh ingredients and overall experience remain consistently praised.
The location features a peaceful outdoor seating area that is spacious and dog-friendly, making it a lovely picnic spot surrounded by beautiful scenery. Customers can enjoy tasty salads, including the broccoli salad, along with Hearst wine offerings or the Frose, which must be enjoyed on the patio. On weekends, epic burgers from the food truck enhance the variety. The staff are friendly and welcoming, contributing to the inviting vibe of the café and store, which are kept clean and include easily accessible bathrooms.
Inside, there is a small gift shop that offers gourmet and specialty food items along with cute home decor and gifts. Customers order at the counter and pick up their items when buzzed. Many visitors come as a pit stop to the winery or Hearst Castle for convenience, and overall, SEBASTIAN'S provides a delightful respite with delicious food and a unique experience. Many customers express their intention to return, highlighting the pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices.
