When I was going to SCU, this was more of a dive bar. I love that it is now owned by an alum and he's turned it into a lunch spot. At first when someone suggested the Hut, I was confused because I thought it was still pretty much a bar! It's changed since I graduated (many moons ago). They have good lunch specials. The most popular seems to be sandwich and fries combo. Give this place a try!
We ordered the tri tip sandwich with fries ? The meat was smoked, good flavor but it had some grease at the sides and in the middle. The bread had garlic butter but it was dripping with butter. The French fries were way too salty and oily and came with a spicy seasoning that I didn’t like and I didn’t know it was included. The food was a bit of a mixed bag! Their fried food is lovely; crispy and well seasoned, it’s freshly fried and piping hot when it hits the table. My friend got the tri-tip sandwich and greatly enjoyed it, my partner and I got a half rack of ribs with Mac and cheese and baked beans.
