“The food was good, service was not as great as the last time. Could've done without the loud banter of the sushi chefs, especially since our food sat on the counter and then was all served on the same plates...the people were not sitting near each other and had to ask for plates to slide them over.. felt like like lazy placing.“
“I was in Tahoe for a convention and we were on our own for dinner. I looked in all my apps and was assured via ratings that this place was worth the walk. After a long day of standing, I changed my shoes and walked over. It was around some shops, so I was happy to walk through those to work up my appetite. Lots of cute stores around with tourist mementos. The place itself is small, a couple of tables outside, I honestly don't remember if there were ones inside. There is some construction going on so the outside around feels very closed in, but it is covered which is nice. I decided to just get it togo and go back to my hotel. You go up to the counter to order kinda subway or chipotle style. Do you want a bowl or a burrito? What type of rice, which protein, what do you want to add? They have recipes of things that they know work well together or you can create your own. I went with a tuna bowl with brown rice. Normally I add all kinds of things but I kept it simple this time and it was very good. I did like the Hawaii sauce, it went well with the brown rice which I had to get because I am trying to be healthier. The person making the bowl is very helpful. She made suggestions, answered questions, was very friendly. She seemed to be up front on her own even when more people came in, she handled the additional customers in stride and was helpful to everyone. I hoofed it back to my room and opened my much anticipated bowl. It did not disappoint. The food was so fresh and the flavors went well together. I would definitely go back. Highly recommend.“
“Really enjoyed this dinner stop on the long drive home. Sushi rolls were cut to small bites so it's easier to eat than most sushi places. Tempura was tasty. Central gas fireplace was a pleasant treat during winter. Service was friendly in spite of being busy.Parking: Had to park in the car wash next door, since there were only a few spaces at the restaurant and snow blocked most of the street parking.“
“Korean ran sushi joint. Sushi chefs have skills and experience. Sashimi is cut thick Korean style. Hope that you have the Korean aunty as your server. The darker probably Chinese dude server was rude and wouldn’t listen from the get go, didn’t know the menu, and got our order wrong.Fish is as fresh as you can get. Stick with simple maki’s, nigiri and sashimi. Stay away from sauced up rolls if you don’t want to spend $$$ for less fish. Go to sushi pier for that.“
“People tend to downplay this place a lot but I personally had a great experience! I went in on a Saturday during lunch time and ordered the gyoza appetizer and midtown roll. This isn’t authentic sushi and it isn’t owned by Japanese people, so don’t expect the best of the best but it’s worth the price. They weren’t too busy and I was serviced right away. The appetizer came like a full dish and I appreciated that. Also the waitress was really nice.“
“We finally tried a good sushi spot in Tahoe. Offerings were fresh although we do with they had a wider selection of sashimi. However freshness counts more this far from the ocean. We went when it was not crazy and enjoyed our time at the bar. Will return.“
