“Lu Yi Xian is located in what looks like a office building. At first there looks like there's very limited parking (the entrance is on the north side on Valley Blvd), but there's actually more parking underground.
The main dining room is a bit small, but they have a secondary adjacent dining room. Not sure how large as I didn't go in there. The vibe is very mom and pop, clean, with some fun simple decorative touches.
The food however is the main standout of this place, especially the Beef Noodle. It's deliciously savory, slightly sweet and not the usual salt bomb that most noodle soups tend to be. The noodles are springy and have great bite, like al dente pasta. The vegetables are fresh, not overcooked. And the beef...oh the beef! It's wonderfully seasoned and braised until its silky and tender. Plus you get a very healthy portion of it. This is the main reason you should come here.
I also recommend the Tofu Skin with Cilantro. It's fragrant, simple, fresh and satisfying. If you order the potstickers, be warned that you get four but they are much much larger than most places. I ended up taking them to go.
All and all this place is well worth the price. It's not a super fancy place, but the food is fantastic.“

“The restaurant is clean, modern, and comfortable, and you can even watch the staff hand-make dumplings, which adds to the experience. The service was warm, attentive, and efficient, even during a busy meal.
If you’re craving authentic Shanghai breakfast or comfort food, this is definitely a place worth coming back to. Highly recommend!“

“Friendly service and delicious food. I had har gow and shu mai and shrimp+pork+chive dumplings that I ate at their table and I brought leftovers and other food home as well. Haven't tried it yet it's waiting for dinner. The place is clean, there's easy parking, and the service was friendly and attentive. There's no picture of the har gow because I inhaled it. I was here at 3:00 in the afternoon so I was the only customer for the first half hour.“

“Wow! Meat pies from heaven in a mini- mall off N Garfield Avenue. Everything here is great. Not a sit down place as such, since it's really small and they only have a few tables, but I'm sure you could eat in if you wanted to (they have a short menu) - but it's not really a restaurant atmosphere - more of a small hole in the wall family run takeout, with Grandpa making dumplings by hand at a table when I was there. There seems to be very little English spoken here. Very delicious and authentic - I'll be back!“

“If you're a fan of authentic dumpling houses and bold flavors, this spot is a must-visit! 👍😋💯 It’s a small, unassuming hole-in-the-wall, but don’t let the size fool you the food is phenomenal. 🍜🤤👏 We ordered a variety of dishes, and each one delivered big on taste. 🥟🥢😋
I had the spicy fried rice (pro tip: it comes with chicken, even though it doesn’t say so on the menu). 🔥🌶️🍚 The flavor from the hot chili oil and black salted beans was out of this world. 🌎🌟✨ We also enjoyed the xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), which were perfectly done. 💯😋👍
What really surprised me was the sautéed cabbage with Thai chili peppers so simple, yet packed with incredible flavor. 🥬🌶️🔥 The beef soup was hearty, and the spicy chicken dish with Sichuan and chili peppers brought the heat in all the right ways. 🍲🐔🌶️

“I celebrated the Chinese New Year’s Day dinner with my friends here. Love the vibe and food here. It gets very busy so the service isn’t the best but we had no complaints and we understood that they were trying their best.
They have a great selections of different Shanghainese food or Cantonese and Sichuan food. The pig pots of soups are a must in my opinion. And the most famous 東坡肉.
Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time for special occasions. If you have a big group I recommend having the private room because they seem so nice.

We finally found the most original and authentic taste of 大合卤味— a flavor we’ve missed and thought about consistently for so many years. Every dish was packed with rich, comforting flavors and that authentic traditional homemade feeling that is so hard to find nowadays.
The beef noodle soup was absolutely AMAZING — the broth was deep, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice and aroma. The beef was unbelievably tender, juicy, and practically melted in the mouth. One of the best beef noodle soups I’ve had in a very long time.
The signature dish is an absolute MUST-ORDER for every table! Once you try it, you’ll understand why everyone keeps coming back. The 卤味 dishes were also outstanding — packed with flavor, perfectly marinated, and incredibly addictive. You can truly taste the care and quality in every bite.
What shocked us even more was the price — very affordable, yet the quality and flavors honestly felt Michelin-star level. It’s rare to find a place that delivers this level of authentic Taiwanese comfort food at such a reasonable price.

“Just like being in Shanghai ! Amazing ! We had a wonderful time here last night! Good food , so delicious and service was very attentive! We spend 3.5 hours here in a private room with a banquet line menu for the 4 of us.. we started off with crab roe shark fin soup. Haven’t have anything like this before! Wow! We have everything of the specialty including the signature pork belly, crab with rice cake, smoke fish, … and made to order dumplings! Wow ! And the dessert mochi is also freshly made to order! Truly an amazing experience.. one would never knew because outside the building is so bland but as all Asian cares more than anything is the food!“

“We had the best experience at Mama Lu’s Dumpling House, this is one of those spots where you have to come hungry because you’ll want to try everything on the menu.
We ordered a little bit of everything, and every single dish delivered. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned and super comforting, with that classic wok flavor that makes it hard to stop eating. The vegetable dumplings were fresh, light, and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best we’ve had. The pancake had that ideal crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside texture and was so satisfying. The string beans were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning, and the eggplant was good, melt-in-your-mouth vibe.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere really stood out. It’s cozy and welcoming, but still spacious enough to comfortably bring a big group, perfect for families or catching up with friends. One thing we really appreciated is that they don’t rush you out. You can actually sit, enjoy your meal, and take your time, which makes the whole experience feel even better.
The service was amazing from start to finish. Everyone was so kind, patient, and genuinely attentive. You can tell they really care about making sure you have a great experience. Shoutout to Nana (the manager) for being so awesome!
