“There are only 14 tables, but the staff were wonderful. The prices demand it but you will get attentive service. And the ambience is spectacular. You get to sit by a dock with water right next to you. It is a very romantic place. They don’t have any loud music which is great. Their wine list is extensive. And with the corkage being $75 may as well try their wines. The cuisine is French, which I love. The scallops were perfect. I did not like the gravy as much as it tasted overly sweet. The pork loin was only OK because it could be more tender and it was a little dry. The brioche bread pudding is good though I make it better. I loved the mushroom soup.“

“We started out with the Roasty Toasty and Bourbon Caramel lattes (house made syrups!) and I literally cannot decide which one I like better! We paired that with a cinnamon roll to start! I then shifted to bottomless mimosas and they were hot on it making sure I was well taken care of. We got the croque madame for sustenance and it has the perfect ratio of cheese and ham. I want to go back every day!“

“3 companions and I dined at Populaire Modern Bistro in South Coast Plaza on 2/21/24 and I ordered the prix fixe menu. We bought a bottle of wine separately. The PF menu was $65 per person and well worth it. Everything was spectacular. The blending of flavors with the heirloom carrots was unique. I'm not normally a huge fan of tartare normally, but it was really flavorful. The beef cheek was melt-in-your-mouth tender and even the rice pudding - which I can normally take or leave - had some wonderful, unexpected flavors. Don't be fooled by the "bistro" label. This was definitely a cut above the normal bistro fare of steak and frites or Croque Monsieur. Our server was warm and efficient. She was friendly enough to stop and talk but took her cue from us, which was much appreciated. The location used to be part of the Corner Bakery chain. It was remodeled in part, but it's in South Coast Plaza mall so not a ton of atmosphere. Once you taste the food, you won't care!“

“What a great place ! Just push the door and you are in France. It starts with a little French Market where you can find all French specialty food that you really miss (when you've been away from home a long time) such as cookies like Pepito, barquettes, BN, Bonne-Maman jam, crème de marrons, drinks like Orangina and some really nice wines. But you will find also soaps, kitchen linen and other cute little accessories for your kitchen. I was impressed with the large selection of food they offer. Cakes, danishes, breads, everything made with authentic French recipes. It smells so good and looks so delicious that you want to eat a little bit of everything, very hard to make a decision. I opt for a flan, very simple cake that I didn't have for ages and I took a Brie Walnut sandwich to go for my lunch. The bread is so perfect soft and crunchy I could have eaten 2 more of those !!! They also have a large selection of salads, fresh fruits and few hot dishes too. You can eat inside or choose to seat outside where they have a huge patio with nice red umbrellas. I could spend a full day there by myself eating the best French food I had in LA area so far and look at the crowd walking around the display cases and wondering like me : "what am I going to eat today ?!?" The owner Laurent is very friendly and welcoming (so is the staff) and is really passionate. It was nice meeting and talking to him. Congratulations for this beautiful and yummy place ! I can't wait to be back“

“I had dinner here for the first time and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was great, food was amazing but the service was top notch. I really do enjoy when the feel of a restaurant makes you feel like you're in a different place. Can't wait for my next visit!“

“Beautiful dining experience. The service and food were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Dining at Hobbit was like being invited to a fancy friend’s home for a gourmet meal, warm, inviting, and upscale, with a touch of home. We will be back.“

“Small coffee shop within high rise business building. Lots of sitting outside and parking is 2 hour complimentary with validation. Tried instant tiramisu and ice americano. Liked both and instant tiramisu is more lukewarm desert than coffee. Like this “

“Amazing Valentine’s weekend dinner! Six courses made for a most Indulgent Aphrodisiac’s menu created by Chef Tony. The plating was exquisite, service very attentive, and relatively low-carb, very copicetic with my diabetic precautions. The French Chardonnay we had enjoyed was lovely, paired well particularly with the scallop crudo, oyster and lobster dishes. It was also a pleasure to meet and chat with Yassmin, the co-owner and wife of Chef Tony. We are planning to dine here again, next time for The restaurant’s High Tea, which is offered on Sunday afternoons.“

“At Moulin, I ordered the almond croissant, Mille-feuille, and a cappuccino. The croissant was 5/5! Very airy and crispy with a good amount of almond filling. The Mille-feuille cream filling was too sweet for my liking but the pastry part was very crispy and nice. The cappuccino came with a little piece of dark chocolate which was a sweet touch. This cafe is sort of hidden in a small outdoor plaza with a number of home decor stores, a couple restaurants, and little shops amongst a business area. I like the location as it's not crowded and has a number of outdoor seating, there was a live performer on the Saturday I went too! There is plenty of parking.“

“This is a very special place. Open for dinner only Tuesday through Saturday reservations are a must. It only seats 8 or 10 parties so it is small and intimate. The food is exquisite. Courses are small but you will want to order a few. The prix fixe menu is a great way to go.“

“Upon walking in, you'll most likely get a whiff of the hot butter from the sizzling plates from diners. If they have their doors open, it's most likely due to the dining room being smokey from the plates. They offer a variety of meal options but I think they're mostly known for their sizzling plates and beef dishes. Our group had the com bo luc lac (shaken beef with rice), com suon cuu nuong sot bo toi (lamb chops with garlic butter sauce and rice), and com ribeye sot bo toi (ribeye with garlic butter sauce and rice). Even though we ordered all dishes with the red rice, there were other options to choose such as white rice, fries or bread. I'm not exactly sure what's in the red rice to even describe it. I wasn't a big fan of the red rice but to all their own.The lamb chops and ribeye were presented on a sizzling plate with a side salad with vinegarette dressing. Lamb chops were tender and ribeye lacked flavor. The star of the meal was the bo luc lac. It was also tender, shaken with plenty of sauce, and had chunks of garlic. It was absolutely delicious! The plate also had a side of watercress and onions that complimented the dish well. It was so good, our table had to order another. Portion-wise, I'd say it's a single serving. You may not want to share it with how delicious it is.Service was great, too. Now, I saw another reviewer mention this, so I will too. Just FYI, their drinks are served in small styrofoam cups. They do charge $0.50 for water. It's not a deal breaker but I guess some people may not like it. I'm assuming it's the charge for the cup itself.“

“Honestly this is a spot that has been timeless in West Costa Mesa especially for those of us who live on the best side of CM! They just reopened last year and were terribly missed post Covid.Excited to hear that the menu is going to be remixed very soon as they already have some solid plates that never disappoint. From a Po’Boy that reminds you of Nawlins’, to an unchopped salad that really hits the spot during artists hour, you cannot go wrong dropping in for especially a drink. The mixology in this place is insane with old school drinks to new school libations made with your favorite booze. The music is usually beyond on point and is a good break from some of the pretentious spots around it (menos Garabaldi…si sabes tu sabes jaja).I always drop in to host friends or fam from out of town as I wish I could be here every week! Do yourself a favor and keep it real when on the West Side and hit up West End!“

“I came with a friend to get brunch we both got the same thing which was a French Toast with berries which came with a side of eggs and sausage or bacon etc. The food was really delicious the French toast had a filling inside and the berries were fresh. To drink I got a strawberry lemonade there was mushy strawberries in the drink and it made it hard to sip but it was good other than that. Ratings - French Toast 10/10 ; Strawberry Lemonade Drink 8/10“
