OOTORO WALNUT is a Japanese restaurant in the Diamond Bar–Walnut area, widely considered the best sushi restaurant in or near Walnut. It offers some of the best-quality sushi and sashimi in the neighborhood, with extremely fresh and generously portioned fish. The premium chirashi, sashimi deluxe, and assorted hand-roll sushi platter are standout dishes, and favorites include the king crab chawamussi, menma, sweet shrimp, toro, and salmon. The salmon skin salad complements meals beautifully. While the premium chirashi may not always include uni, the overall quality is consistently high.
The restaurant is a great spot with delicious food and a vast array of options, including a special lunch menu and seasonal lunch sets. The price range is quite flexible, depending entirely on your own choices, making it ideal for group gatherings. The atmosphere is comfortable and low-lit, with tables lit to create a private bubble for conversation. On weekends, there can be a 30-50 minute wait for seating as they do not accept reservations, but the wait is considered worth it. Service is warm, attentive, and excellent, with servers constantly topping off waters. The experience is relaxed and enjoyable, especially when the restaurant is not too crowded. With its high-quality food, excellent service, and comfortable environment, it is a favorite Japanese restaurant that customers highly recommend and enjoy coming back to.
