Small, hole-in-the-wall place, but it was AWESOMENESS on a bun! I'd heard about this local legend in the South and had to see what it was all about before heading back up to Monterey.
I really do wish the hot dogs were all-beef. The burgers were killer! WE NEED a Monterey or even a San Jose location. Definitely coming back for more!

Based on the reviews, Original Tommy's is a world famous chili restaurant located on the corner of Goldenwest & Westminster. It has plenty of parking and is convenient. The restaurant is clean and spacious with only outdoor seating, both covered and none. It is a drive-through and walk-up with a small menu. The service is nice, friendly, and fast. The restaurant is an old school LA staple that is not trendy or aesthetic, just dependable comfort food. The food has not changed a thing. The world famous chili is thick, yummy, tasty, and delicious. The chili fries are crispy fries with that thick chili on top. The chili double cheese burger is messy but good. The chili cheeseburger has thick chili, savory, with a mild kick. The breakfast sandwich is good but does not come with bread. The California Classic Cheeseburgers are thin and flavor wise, just okay. It is recommended to get the food as it comes, add extra onions and mustard, ask for chili peppers, and be sure to get extra napkins.
