We tried the Carne en Vara 1/4 meat platter with potatoes and cheese. Fresh and the meat was juicy and full of flavor. Absolutely delicious. They even have fresh lemonade which was refreshing and sweet. Truly an amazing spot.

Anna is the owner and really cared that the food was fresh and made from scratch. I tried a sample of the picadillo llanero and man it was great too.

But Lilly’s is the new go spot. The man at the window told me his father started it 24 years ago, so no wonder it’s so good. Burrito was huge, not sloppy or greasy, perfectly balanced meat cheese potato and eggs. The salsa on the side is delicious. If you’re in Valverde stop in and support them. It’s honestly incredible.

“Sure as the sun rises every day, this place is likely to have a line out the door. It’s nice to see some familiar faces working behind the counter nowadays and they seem to have things dialed in a little better than in the past. The flavor selection is interesting and their rotational flavors change often enough you will find something new to love every time you go in. Parking can be a nightmare on pearl but you can park in the neighborhood and hike over.

My only gripe (and warranting a 1 star penalty) is the absence of their best flavor from their core menu. In a savage and deeply personal attack against me, the chief cow decided some years back to discontinue PB&J due to “slow sales”. Apparently eating a double scoop every day for three years for lunch wasn’t enough to maintain the product mix numbers system wide so they broke my heart and tanked it. I’m only half joking but management if you’re reading this know that wound still hurts. Bad.“

“I came to Denver on vacation and wanted to try some good Venezuelan food, and I found this place. It's a family business; the owner and his wife serve you themselves, and they are very friendly people. I ordered the tequeños as an appetizer, 100% recommended. I tried the mixed Pepito Primavera and I loved it; the explosion of flavors is incredible. The bacon, the cheese, the corn, and the seasoning of the meat are amazing.“

“I’m going to give my honest review. I was born in Colombia and I’m very familiar with the cuisine. Not all the menu items are good—the hot dogs are delicious and the burgers are very tasty. However, we ordered the picada once and it was awful: the meat was dry and didn’t taste fresh. We’ve also ordered burgers twice; today, the burger was noticeably smaller than usual, which was very disappointing.

Overall, the food can be good, but consistency needs to improve. When I order the same item, I expect it to be the same quality and size as before—not something much smaller. I’ll most likely come back because some of their items are very good, but the price should match the size and quality. And please, take the picada off the menu if it can’t be done right. A proper Colombian picada is out of this world, and what you served wasn’t a fair representation.
