“This place rocked. The host got us seated quickly, our server was super nice, had great recommendations, and the food was delicious. If you like brunch with a unique Cajun/New Orleans/ rustic twist, you will like this place. They have their own habanero hot sauce which was insanely delicious and balanced. Not to mention it’s all somehow all happening in a beautiful house with an amazing rooftop patio. 5/5“

“What a fun adventure! I had never done something like this before. We shared a comb boil, which did not disappoint! We got the Cajun seasoning with no spice, which was wonderful. A good amount of sea food and a side variety. The flavors melded well together. Definitely will be back to try other seasonings and increase the spice level.“

“Another must visit if you find yourself in The Mile High City. This cajun restaurant is operated out of a beautiful and cozy Victorian house which added to the wholesome atmosphere. The food was sublime; the beignets, cheesy grits, and omelets did not disappoint. The only downside was the food coma afterwards.“

“Jax offered a decent meal experience albeit pricey. Staff was all very welcoming and friendly. While the bar area had ample staffing there seemed to be only two servers and one assistant for the entire restaurant which made interaction with the server almost non existent. That stated the overwhelmed server we had was friendly the few times we saw her and was doing the best she could. The food was decent but they love their spices and the MauiMaui was served with a paste that had a nip to it that was a bit much for my taste. The bread, served in a butter oil type sauce, was very good but again the sauce was strongly spiced. The chocolate oil cake and Ceaser salad were average. On the flip side the crab cake was excellent with chunks of crab. My wife enjoyed her salmon dish. The atmosphere was a bit loud and the air was set colder than it needed to be. Overall while I was glad to have tried Jax I'm not sure I'd go back as it did not seem up to the very high prices they have. For the prices I had hoped for a higher level experience. A better experience can be found elsewhere at more reasonable prices.“

Deja Roux Cajun & Soul Food Truck Cajun/Creole •
3600 E 40th Ave, Denver

“Unreal, underrated food truck. We had the fried green tomatoes and the catfish platter. The breading was super flavorful, the hush puppies were soft and had great texture, and the catfish tasted like it was caught today! Very juicy and not overcooked. The fries could be a tad crispier. My favorite part was the sauces! They don’t skimp on sauce amount or selection- they automatically include them on your plate. Wish other food trucks would take note!I can’t wait to have their food again. Kind staff who really vouched for their food/craft. 10 out of 10.“

“#pleAsed...a slice of some soul food. Colorado's soul food venue is lacking big tyme. Bourbon Grill will serve you a plate for "2" however you will be able to eat on it for 2 days. You also see the food getting prepared for you, right in front of you. Which is very valuable. ? & delicious. Jyst as fast as you can order the meal comes, every tyme l go in there is always people there too. So if you plan on going expect a line. What do you expect when the food is good. The only bad part is where it is located & the owner is a rude.“

“We were visiting Denver and did a quick Google search for restaurants near the art museum. This location came up (Nola Janes), and it sounded like a great place to eat.We really enjoyed it. Our waitress was really cool and awesome at helping us make the best food selections as it was our first time eating there. The hush puppies were fantastic. Our meals were yummy as well. My brother had jambalaya, and I had the gator sausage po'boy. We were not disappointed! I actually started scooping my brothers jambalaya onto my po'boy it was so good! For dessert, we shared the bread pudding... I said it was the best bread pudding I've ever had, and my brother said it was his second favorite. If we visit Denver again, this place will be on our radar... I suggest trying it if you haven't been!“

“The food is great! My husband and I dined in tonight. The hostess was very welcoming but as soon as I went to sit in the booth there was food spilled on the seat so I couldn't sit down and the table was still pretty messy. The hostess brought it to the waitstaff's attention but no one came to clean it up. The service was pretty rough. Our waitress was very friendly but I felt as if we were not her priority throughout our time there. We did more waiting on her, our food, silverware, drinks than we did actually being able to enjoy our dinner. Overall, our compliments to the chef! Just hope next time we come in, the service will be better : )“
