“Food was fantastic. We hiked the incline and wanted some coffee and good breakfast sandwich. We got both. The staff was fantastic! They are super friendly and on top of things. We stepped away for 5min from our table to get a pastry after our sandwich and came back to our table being cleaned off lol. They do free refills so it was all good. But I appreciated that they were cleaning up behind patrons. There is so much to look at here! Lots of plants make the place feel calming.“

The rye bread was perfect and the corn beef was exactly the right texture to offset the sauce. My husband had bacon pancakes and they were fluffy, golden, and delicious.10/10 highly recommend for a quick bite when out and about in Manitou Springs.“

My family is from New Orleans and have had beignets from there more times than I count so I was hesitant to try these. I shouldn’t have been! These are the best I’ve had outside of New Orleans. Made me want to take a trip back there since it’s been a couple years. Would gladly bring family here. Tried the chocolate dipping sauce to change it up a bit and not sure I’d get again but it was good!“

We all had the Gyros platter that included a great Greek salad with all the trimmings. And the Baklava was just out of this world! Since my son lives in Colorado Springs and we live in Thornton, we don't get to go that often, so we do try to go whenever we go to see him. Pikes peak road rest stop Cafe •
Cascade - 7.22 miles

“Iconic. Amazing. Beautiful. These are from the reviews of others, and I'd echo these terms and many more, with regard to this incredible wonder. I've long wanted to drive to the top and we did so on a recent visit. It was early November on an uncharacteristically warm day with beautiful clear skies as we began our ascent, and the weather stayed perfect the whole time, getting colder as we ascended of course. The drive itself starts out very mildly in terms of grade, and frankly, excitement, but it definitely saves the best stuff for later. Once you get into the seriously twisty and steep bits, the trees start to part and reveal the spectacular views as you get higher and higher. Our rented Toyota 4 Runner was more than capable, and got us up and down with aplomb. We were initially excited as we reached the summit, until we got out of the car and headed to the visitor center. It was at that point that my wife and I both realized we had a bit of altitude sickness, in the form of dizziness, light headedness and she even had a smidge of nausea. We were surprised and how, well, almost terrible we felt. We grabbed a couple of quick pics and began our descent, and we began to feel better soon thereafter. So, be prepared for the possibility. As we came back down, we stayed in first gear on the 4 Runner much of the way, and at the mandatory brake check, the checker commented that our brakes were under 100 degrees and that we were doing a great job. The view was even better on the way down. If you're ever in this area, this is a must-do and must-see. It is everything that everyone says, totally awesome.“

“Absolutely fantastic breakfast!! The breakfast burrito with green chili was not only the best breakfast I’ve had in Colorado Springs but is a top 3 for anything I’ve had ever, anywhere! The French toast was outstanding as well!! It was hot, had warm strawberries and delicious homemade whipped cream and REAL MAPLESYRUP!! I didn’t even have to ask for real maple syrup, it was just what they do!!!And the tequila sunrise with fresh squeezed OJ put it over the top.My family and I absolutely love breakfast and appreciate attention to detail and great food.A lot of places serve a breakfast that is basically Dennys with an increased charge. That was definitely not the case here. This was a chef prepared, made with love, delicious breakfast. And, the service was first class as well. It had snowed over a foot over 2 days and most businesses were closed, but when we walked in, we were greeted as if the restaurant was open just for us. Alie was our main server and bartender and ran the place as if she had built it and owned it herself. She greeted everyone that came in with a super genuine smile and hello and explained the entire menu. Dani was there helping and was incredibly friendly and attentive and professional as well. And not to be forgotten, Nadia was making all of the delicious dishes that made the meal so amazing. We asked a few times which one of them (or all of them) owned the place because they treated it as if it was their own labor of love.We will definitely eat here multiple times every time we visit Colorado Springs.Guy Fieri and Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives needs to make a visit to Bird Tree Cafe.
