“Three visits in two days, and all of them were terrific. 1) a quick stop for a couple salads and a pint before heading up to Owl Pass for sunset photos. 2) Back for pizza and a couple pints the same evening. 3) The highlight, the place was slammed after a community-wide event and barrel aged festival the next day. The staff of this relatively small establishment was overwhelmed but handled the crowd like champs. All it took was a little bit of patience and we found space at the bar. Great beer, good pizza and salads and friendly staff. Anyone who complains about this place is an overly privileged A-hole who would be better off staying home.

Beer highlights are the Pale, an English IPA (because that's where IPA came from) and a cask Irish Red.”

“Tammee and her crew catered our daughters wedding in Ouray this past weekend. Fabulous doesn’t start to describe! She also did the cake which stole the show! Several comments I have gotten since included ‘best wedding cake I’ve ever tasted’ to ‘top 3 cake in my lifetime’. We followed up by going to the cafe on Sunday where again the food was fantastic! If you need an event caterer or a place for lunch/dinner True Grit is the place!”

“Used to go to True Grit. Food & service left a lot to be desired, & we got charged extra for side dishes that were supposed to come with the meal. Even with a 25% military discount, it's not worth it anymore. Now, along comes The Lazy Dog Saloon who saved my day of ravenous hunger with their delicious foods. Drove from Cedaredge to Ridgway looking for a good meal. Here it was! Succulent, cooked med. rare sirloin with honey sweet baked beans topped with crispy bacon. & loaded mashed potatoes with crisp bacon bits & cheese. I will certainly be eating there everyday while we are camped there for the July 4th holiday.”

“As a local, I have loved Kate’s for several years. However, I do NOT like the recent changes. The beloved home fries are gone and replaced with frozen diced potatoes- very disappointing. You can’t upgrade your bread option to a pancake anymore, either.”

“Stopped here last week while in town for some lunch. The food was delicious! We had a German hot dog and a brat with hatch green chili. Both were amazing. The tables have great views of the mountains. Service was fast and friendly. Wish we had time to go once more before we left.”

“The Western is a beautiful Hotel and lovely staff. My daughter recently married in Ouray. We chose the Western for their reception and stayed at the Hotel. It was absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Making our stay even better. Susanne was wonderful to me the day of the reception making every little detail exactly as my daughter wanted it to be. It was the wedding of her dreams. I hope to return in the near future. It is a beautiful town and I highly recommend visiting the Western, either it be for dinner, a drink at their bar or stay the night.”

“I went this morning and asked at the counter - the apple turnovers and cherry turnovers are both vegan. Really impressed to have those options in a small mountain town that is not very vegan friendly. Apple turnover was flaky and delicious! Will be back in the morning for more.”
