“Steven's Deli makes a FANTASTIC buffalo chicken sandwich!!! My coworkers and I are never disappointed when we order sandwiches from here! They post their specials on Facebook daily, and offer an awesome variety of meats, toppings and options. I'm always impressed by the flavor combinations they come up with, especially since their specials change daily rather than weekly. The folks behind the counter are polite, kind and efficient! I don't believe they have fountain drinks, but the selection in their fridge is pretty inclusive. Thanks everyone at Steven's! I'll always look forward to that buffalo sandwich and sauce!“

“This review is long overdue, I’ve been going to Mattei’s for a long time now. Their food is outstanding. If you like eggplant this place has the best eggplant I’ve ever had. Not to mention unlike a lot of other places, Mattei’s loads up their sandwiches and gives you PLENTY! The employees are also very polite and happy to help. All of their food is delicious, I highly recommend coming here and trying it.“

“I seriously loved this place. The atmosphere and the customer service were amazing, but the food is what really won me over. I just finished eating and felt like I had to write a review. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and so comforting.

Even though the menu is international, there are a lot of Ecuadorian dishes and snacks that really stood out to me. It made me so happy to see my country’s food represented in such a beautiful way. I haven’t experienced that in a long time.

The chicken cutlet sandwich with pesto is excellent not to mention the best potato salad ever. Best of all the portions are generous and the prices reasonable.“

“I lived in this area in 2009 and discovered this little gem. I moved back to my home state of Michigan in 2010 but still have my whole family in West Haven, so I still come to town every 3-4 years to visit, and when I do? You best believe i am making a pit stop in here for a pastrami sub. 😋 This is 100% the best deli i have ever been to. The man and woman running it are the sweetest people, they always remember us when I mention we are from Michigan, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. The steak subs? Delicious. The Italian combo? Large and full of flavor and toppings. However, the pastrami will always have my heart. No where even back in Michigan compares. 100/10. Go support this business. You and your taste buds won't regret it.“

“I love their chicken over rice. The lamb of rice is also very good. It’s not dry at all. The grilled chicken sandwich is my favorite without the cheese. Their cheeseburger hamburger quality of the meat is amazing. Highly recommend this place.“

This is my go to spot when I work in the area. I always get the same thing, once I walk in they already know my order (pastrami sub, with grilled onions, lettuce, extra Swiss cheese, mayo and mustard)

The service is not bad but it's not good so it's in the middle.

“Everyone talks about Sally's or Frank Pepe's apizza here and there but frankly the best pizza I've had in New Haven so far is from this spot. They do take forever to make your pizza on busy days, regardless it is well worth waiting for. I'm assuming the pizza would be less expensive if they didn't charge so much for toppings. I walked there and had a bologna egg and cheese sandwich. bologna wild not normally be my first thought on a breakfast sandwich but it was in the menu so I tried it. I little salty, and not very healthy, but it was grilled and got and delicious.“
