“Randomly stumbled upon Gaetanos in Westport yesterday when looking for a place to get sandwiches before my son’s baseball game. Having grown up in Belmont Little Italy for the first 22 years of my life I was skeptical about the “Arthur Ave style..” claim on the sign. Well I can tell you they delivered and then some! Was warmly greeted, handled samples of delicious cheeses and more. They were too skeptical when I said I grew up on Arthur Ave but once we started chatting they knew I wasn’t BSing. Saw familiar faces and reminisced about life on Arthur Ave. The owners are warm and kind - the real deal keeping it true to the Arthur Ave spirit. Dare I say they might even do it better!! I can’t say enough about the excellent food and service. If I ever find myself in Westport again I will certainly make a visit! Aside from my son’s team’s win, this nostalgic experience truly made my day and made me feel like I was back home in the Bronx when life was more simple. And yes, everything we ordered and sampled was delicious! No skin on the eggplant and bread from Addeo - doesn’t get any better!“

“Right off the highway. Don’t let the convenience store vibe deter you! The food is made fresh and the menu is extensive and interesting. My husband and I had the tikka masala lamb over rice and veggie rice bowl with chicken. Both dishes were full of flavor and excellent. The drinks menu looked great, but we were full. We enjoyed sitting at the little table in the center of the store and the ladies taking the orders and cooking were very sweet. This was a much better option than a fast food chain off the highway. Highly recommend.“

“I lived in this area in 2009 and discovered this little gem. I moved back to my home state of Michigan in 2010 but still have my whole family in West Haven, so I still come to town every 3-4 years to visit, and when I do? You best believe i am making a pit stop in here for a pastrami sub. 😋 This is 100% the best deli i have ever been to. The man and woman running it are the sweetest people, they always remember us when I mention we are from Michigan, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. The steak subs? Delicious. The Italian combo? Large and full of flavor and toppings. However, the pastrami will always have my heart. No where even back in Michigan compares. 100/10. Go support this business. You and your taste buds won't regret it.“

“I came in for the first time not sure what to expect, I didn't bring much with me and unfortunately this time I didn't leave a tip because of that. Had I known the quality was this good I would have definitely made sure to bring extra. The price is a little hi but you are honestly getting a great meal and portion“

“I moved away from the area. Even though I live in an italian area surrounded by all first and second generation Italians. I cannot find a crusty sesame seed grinder like Mr. Kold cuts. I drive an hour every few months just to get the grinder I used to get twice a week for years.

“So I typically have a great sandwich here, but the other day I placed an order over the phone for my grandfather’s birthday, and when I showed up too early to pick up the order I thought I heard they didn’t have one type of meats for the ‘Sweet Italian Combo’ (of course my grandfather’s sandwich, out of all of them ordered). I thought nothing of it as nobody said a word to me from behind the counter. Grabbed the orders and paid, get home and it was a grilled chicken sandwich with ham (random combination) BUT was labeled as the Sweet Italian. It all made sense now, and I was not mistaken from what I heard. The Provy Brother’s would of never of pulled that ‘stunt’ and would have been transparent that they did not have the available meat(s) for the sandwich instead of making whatever they decided AND labelling it as the requested sandwich when it was not. Yes, the sandwich was still good, but imagine my grandfather’s surprise on his 86th birthday that his favorite sandwich he ordered from his favorite sandwich shop was not what he ordered or wanted on his special day. Please don’t EVER do that again to anyone. That was messed up and you all know what you did. And yes, we will give you all another chance as your sandwiches are always great. Just please be honest to your loyal customers.“

“I've been getting food here since I was old enough to get behind a wheel! What a hidden gem. Not hidden, per se, but certainly easy to drive past and not notice. Breakfast sandwiches are second to none. Lunch has never disappointed. Love this place!!!“

The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and tender, toast was buttery and soft, and the omelette as you can tell from the video was very packed with meat and pepper.

“I’m an extremely picky eater and I highly recommend foodex deli. Not only are there sooo many drinks and snacks to choose from but the food is always delicious, and they listen to special requests. They also have beef and turkey bacon which is very important for me. 10/10!“

“Fresh Polish cold cuts. Polish breads - not everyone knows - are without chemicals and made with 5 ingredients only!!!! Flour, salt, water, yeast, sugar. Besides that, spices in best prices, many in ecological grade, fantastic Polish mineral waters from springs and containing minerals essential to human health. Once you start drinking them, you are not going to drink fake Gatorade drinks that are not only filled with harmful colorants but also contain sugar.“

Being a mix of Italian, Polish, and Ukrainian the Carpathian area has seen so much reorganizing in the last 100 years. I was happy that when I mentioned Galicia to the shop keeper and they recognized the old political entity and it's geography. Sounds like Krakow was the Nexus of the area. Love the Keibasa, perogies, horseradish and baked goods. Proud to be of Polish descent every time I visit.“
