“Randomly stumbled upon Gaetanos in Westport yesterday when looking for a place to get sandwiches before my son’s baseball game. Having grown up in Belmont Little Italy for the first 22 years of my life I was skeptical about the “Arthur Ave style..” claim on the sign. Well I can tell you they delivered and then some! Was warmly greeted, handled samples of delicious cheeses and more. They were too skeptical when I said I grew up on Arthur Ave but once we started chatting they knew I wasn’t BSing. Saw familiar faces and reminisced about life on Arthur Ave. The owners are warm and kind - the real deal keeping it true to the Arthur Ave spirit. Dare I say they might even do it better!! I can’t say enough about the excellent food and service. If I ever find myself in Westport again I will certainly make a visit! Aside from my son’s team’s win, this nostalgic experience truly made my day and made me feel like I was back home in the Bronx when life was more simple. And yes, everything we ordered and sampled was delicious! No skin on the eggplant and bread from Addeo - doesn’t get any better!“

I was happy that when I mentioned Galicia to the shop keeper and they recognized the old political entity and it's geography. Sounds like Krakow was the Nexus of the area. Love the Keibasa, perogies, horseradish and baked goods. Proud to be of Polish descent every time I visit.“

I recommend the sandwich so that the egg shines; I suspect you don't want sausage for this one so the egg tastes better.“
