“We found another one of the Greats today! Grand Apizza started off in the 1950’s and was in New Haven for 50 years! Then the dad, Fred Nuzzo sold the building and moved to Clinton. The same pizza and they opened 3 restaurants, Clinton, Guilford and Madison. The dad went to Clinton and so did we. Let me just say… the pizza is so good! The sauce is top 5. Endless crispy crust perfectly made… and tasty saucy sauce. The garden pie was also quite special with just the right amount of tangy balsamic vinegar! I was super happy to meet Fred’s son, Mike. You can tell he is very humble and proud of their amazing piece of pizza history. Legendary pizza today. 9.7 solid score for the cheese. The tomato pie was a 10. Perfect 10. It’s something that can only be experienced verses spoken about. The garden veggie was an 8.3. “We have been enjoying Chow for years and everything we have ever had from them has been delicious but yesterday… Father’s Day, they went above and beyond! They were packed and after waiting for a while for my take out order (understandable for a busy night) they confessed and profusely apologized because in the rush of the busy evening one of my pizzas had been dropped. Without missing a beat they promised my pizzas would be remade and delivered to my house…. Half hour away!!! That is stellar customer service!!! So, amazing food AND wonderful customer service, what more could anyone want?!“

“For my first time going to The Wharf, it did not disappoint at all. The ambience of the place is beautiful, so I could only imagine how wonderful it would be during the summer. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive when it came to getting orders in, and honestly couldn't have been any better. My girlfriend and I decided to split the crab cakes first, then she got the sea scallops and I got the short rib. Honestly, all three of these entrees delivered on all fronts, whether that was taste or presentation. What was the cherry on top for such a grand and delightful experience was the dessert we ordered, which was their pumpkin cheesecake. The fact that it was shaped like an actual pumpkin made my jaw drop but in the best way. If you want to go somewhere elegant and fancy, this might be the place to go to.“

“Dinner was very good. We went for the $39 fixed price menu as the choices were to our liking. Started with the shredded kale salad (which should have been cut into smaller "shreds" as it was hard to eat) and the polenta with gorgonzola sauce. Very tasty. Salmon and coq au vin for entrees. Perfect size portions and delicious. Desserts were disappointing. Vanilla gelato with caramel sauce was basically a decent vanilla ice cream with a few drizzles of caramel which looked like the dessert had been pre-made and came out of the freezer. Lemon mousse crepes were odd. A crepe - nothing in it - with a dollop of lemon mousse on top that you had to spread over the crepe? Glasses of wine were expensive ($21 each) but good. Tyler was our waiter and he was great. Very attentive, helpful, knew the menu and ingredients, paced our courses and we didn't feel rushed. Ambiance was nice as we sat in the main room with the high ceiling. And the bread was fabulous. Definitely worth the $$ for the fixed price menu. I'd suggest other dessert choices thoiugh. We will be back for the regular menu!“

Well Friends and Company checks all those boxes. From the minute you walk in the door you feel welcomed. And it felt like everybody at the tables around us are regulars. Server was excellent explained the menu clearly and we decided to have a spinach omelet delicious , home fries were fantastic. “We visited last night for the first time since it was Oliver‘s Tavern years ago. We were so impressed from the moment we walked in the door. We opted to go upstairs to the beautiful bar area for appetizers and happy hour drink specials. The food was phenomenal (we had incredible nachos, which were loaded with beef and the fantastic, huge warm pretzel with cheese sauce) and the service was phenomenal as well! Every server and staff member was so attentive and super friendly ! Can’t wait to go back for another great experience and maybe take advantage of some nice weather and sitting out by the fire tables outside.“
