“Great spot. Fish and Chips was outstanding. We were told fries made in house and Panko in fish breading. Really good! Great atmosphere. One of the older wait-ladies wouldn't let the music be herd! Will good again - hopefully on her day off - lol. Will also see also sitting in the back pub room - great tree top views“

“Who even knew this little gem existed!! The bartender at another restaurant recommended it. We had a great time. The bartender was funny and personable. He made great drinks. The prices were lower then other bars so who could not like that!! They only take cash but do have an ATM on site if needed. Rovers has a back deck over looking the lake. The views are spectacular! You can even sit on the grass in an Adirondack chair. Just gorgeous! Friday night is kareoke night. I was a bit intimidated at first because the bar had a bunch of locals and i thought they would not like us noobs singing. Boy was I wrong!!! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They congratulated us and cheered us on. I love this place!! May be my new favorite kareoke spot!!!“

“My friend suggested we go to Double Play Café last night after a concert at the Oakdale Theatre. There was a large crowd for a late on a Saturday night, and we sat at a high top table. We were cold from standing outside for a while at the concert and decided to have some hot drinks. I had a coffee. It was delicious. We then ordered some food. I had the avocado, mozzarella, caprice he salad. I enjoyed it very much. It was fresh and had a very nice balsamic glaze on top. I will definitely go back and try some other items on the menu.“

“Friendly, kind, nice conversations.Ciders were good. To each its own tastes. We bought a 4 pack of the blueberry which was closely related to "passion fruit" cider.Pizza wasn't to my liking. It was very oily. My husband had to try to take it off. And it was doughy. I personally like my pizza crispy. She claimed it was. .. nope. The pig chips and nuts tasted stale. Suppose to be glazed with beer cider. I don't know, in this case maybe I'm the one with the issue. Though ! We did see the ability to order platter of cheese n crackers, but they were out.. Lol.It's okay. It was a Sunday and they seem to be very slow then. So.if you want a quiet place to just sit and enjoy your moment in quiet, then this is good to go. “I took my wife here for a second birthday dinner last summer. We had received a gift certificate from a friend. Best clams casino I ever had. The lasagna was awesome and the portion was more than Icould eat. My wife said her meal was excellent. Our waitress was very personable, accommodating and made the dining experience here very enjoyable. The only reason we haven't been back is just that you get busy and time has a habit of slipping away.“

“I usually love their pizza but I would recommend going there in person for it or double checking it lately. Ordering online doesn't work since its hard to customize pizzas and ots a 10 minute longer wait minimum. We got 2 pizzas for pick up ordered over the phone. 1st the girl was handling more than one phone at a time so not really knowing if we had her full attention. 2nd we ordered the oozy egg no proscute with an extra egg instead. there was no proscute but also no extra egg and the eggs were on only half the pizza. my hubby asked for a side of red pepper flakes they gave him .5oz, kind of stingy. the 2 pizzas came to $38+ and at that price they could at least pay attention and get the order right. Even if they might have been busy, at least do a quality check or read the order back to the customer so it is right.“

“Met some friends here for the first time this past Sunday and we had a great experience. The place was jamming! We almost couldn’t find a seat. During the warmer months they have seating outside too but It’s a bit early in the season, so we were told. The atmosphere was lively and busy.The staff were attentive and the drinks were delicious. We ordered the flight of course and then had a few more. My personal favorite was the Cookie Monster! Liquid crack for lack of a better term is the best way to describe it. If you don’t like sweet than you definitely want to stick to a traditional espresso martini. The presentation was great and our entire group was happy. We will be returning. “prices on the menu are not the same as what I was charged; when I politely brought this up with my server I was met with hostility and I heard her and who I assumed to be the manager speaking very loudly and poorly about me; the whole situation made me entirely uncomfortable despite being upcharged 8 dollars that I paid my bill and promptly left after being treated poorly about the discrepancy. The food and atmosphere great, but poor service absolutely-- and I work at a restaurant as a server...“

“One of my favorite places to play music, hear music and beg Sarah for a bloody Mary. This is a great dive bar and they are really respectful to musicians. I mean, they held on to our gear long after we were supposed to pick it up and the staff stressed over its safety even more than I did. They show a lot of love to the local music scenes, having live shows every weekend. You will also not hear cover songs there, ever. And that's amazing. Every single song played is original. The bands are a mix of touring and local bands and the sound is really raw. I like that these are not "polished" mainstream, commercial musicians. Turn on Spotify or drop your entire wallet at the Oakdale if you want to hear that. I can go there alone and still feel completely safe, and I'm a petite woman with zero ninja skills, so that's a huge relief for me. The staff is really cool and they make some really tasty drinks. Don't expect posh seating or new anything; it's a dive bar! But one really nice feature of this particular bar is IT'S CLEAN. I know Sarah works incredibly hard to keep the place spotless and germ-free. The bathrooms are even clean! Dennis, Holly and Sarah are awesome and they run a really fun place.“

“I really enjoyed this spot. Almost couldn't find it as there's no real signage outside. It is dark, as others have mentioned. But it definitely helps with the vibe. The little book they have the drink menu in is so cute! The man who took our order was very kind & had no issues making me a great mocktail! Very delicious. We had pulled chicken sliders, which were lemon pepper wet with some type of slaw. A little spicy, which usually is not my thing, but I liked these. It's served with kettle cooked chips. “Nice little towny bar. Cash only but they do have an ATM in case you find yourself without cash. They have a couple pool tables in a separate room than the bar which is always nice and roomy. Service is perfect. Bartender is very observant and knows exactly when you need another drink. Drinks are made perfectly too“

“I've been coming to AJ's for over 20 years. literally every time I have friends from out of town visit me and want to have a drink and some good bar food we go to AJ's. every single one of my out-of-town friends always says this is the best bar food they've ever had in their life. I literally have friends who call me up to come to Meriden just to have food from AJ's. my kids are addicted to the food at AJ's as well . I can honestly say if I ever move out of Connecticut, AJ's is one of the very few restaurants that I would ever truly miss and want to stop by if I come back to Connecticut for a visit. “I I have been going to Chris's for 5 years and it's a low lit "old school" pub to hang out with friends for a game of Pool, Darts or just throw back a pint cranking out your favorite music on the TouchTunes jukebox. There are plenty of flatscreen TV's to catch the big games and the "Pittsburgh Steelers" is the Pubs fan favorite as there's is lots of memorabilia throughout the pub. Friday through Sunday evenings are usually busy during football season and there's plenty of space to stretch out. They have a regular pub style lunch that doesn't break the bank with an outstanding and friendly chef that visits the bar for that bit of personal touch unlike other places in the area.“
