“Myrcene is a hidden gem within Old Saybrook! We recently hosted a graduation party here with about 50 guests and it was the PERFECT spot to host a party. The owners are incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. They kept all of their delicious beers, wines, ciders and seltzers flowing for our guests and allowed us to bring in our own food and desserts (this was a game changer for us when looking for a spot to host a party locally). From the time we set up to the time we cleaned up the owners offered to help and were always there to see if we needed anything. The inside space is perfect for a gathering, plus they have a wonderful outside space too for guests to sit and relax and play lawn games. I can’t recommend them enough for your next party or just for a local meet up with friends and family for a delicious drink!“

“Black point pizza is always my go to when I want an absolutely amazing pizza. for me I have the cooks keep it in the oven a bit longer so it stands up when you pick it up to eat. the sauce is to die for also. if you like your pizza a little more firm just ask and the cooks are happy to make your food exactly as you like. minor the owner is a stand up guy and really did good with this recipe. the salads and his homemade balsamic dressing is the best I've had from anywhere. if you have not come out to black point you are really missing out. “We have been coming to David's place for a long time - usually very good. This time (7/23) was not the greatest. Ordered sea food salad roll toasted. It was not toasted and they have changed the sea food salad since last month. It was really good before - now it's more "Stop and Shop" type salad with big chunks. Before it was chopped up small and had a delicious taste. Also the chips were obviously the "bottom of the bag" ones. Sorry - just disappointed. We drove quite a few miles to eat there.“

“Ahhh…Niantic. Restaurants here do not need to work hard because Niantic itself is a joyful place. My Chicken Teriyaki dinner ($18) was excellent. Moist chicken, lovely presentation with broccoli florets ringing the chicken, carrot rounds (perfect) under the chicken, just the right amount of sauce and jasmine rice. A small salad with delicious dressing although it had that baffling watery quality and miso soup that was lukewarm preceded the dinner. My companion had the excellent Thai rice with chicken. The high top was wobbly. That’s the worst thing you can say about the experience. So easy to fix. I had the generous ginger martini, my partner enjoyed the Sam seasonal. It being Saturday of the Niantic Light Parade, we had an excellent view of the festivities-hence a 5 star atmosphere. In daylight, from our table, one can see the Niantic Bay. The young host attempted to shim the bottom of the table. Our server was pleasant. The loud blond server was not. It’s been a minute since we’ve visited The Spice Club. It’s worth another trip next time we’re thinking of Asian Fusion or Sushi.“

“Hungry after a few hours at Gillette Castle, we were looking for lunch/dinner. We had a wonderful experience at Pattaconk! Our waitress was friendly and attentive to my dietary needs (Celiac’s). We had a burger, quesadilla & Nashville chicken stripes. My burger had a gf bun & was delicious, husb & daughter loved the stripes & quesadilla. Restaurant had a nice, chill atmosphere, everyone enjoying drinks & food. We will be back when out in the area.“

“Have been a few times, once for lunch after the Niantic 5K, and also for dinner on two occasions. Chef Rachel is always coming up with great dishes, I've never had a tapas or main I didn't enjoy here. Overall, one of my favorite shoreline spots.“

“This is absolutely my favorite place to eat in old saybrook. Whether it be breakfast or lunch or dinner I have not been disappointed. I was especially impressed by breakfast here. My waitress Paige was so accommodating and kind. She made all the difference in the experience we had. I wish they had 10 of her. I would highly recommend for atmosphere hospitality and food. Above and beyond and excellent.

I have been back a dozen times since the review posted above. Valentine's Day brunch was nice. The dining enhanced by the pasta station which was fabulous. Chef Lam is simply amazing! He went out of his way to make the food and the Fresh Salt experience perfect. Staff like this will keep us coming back again and again. Thanks Fresh Salt and Thank you Lam.

Since my last review I have continued to visit Fresh Salt. It is hard to believe that my experience has been better and better.

“I discovered this place when looking for a restaurant with some vegetarian options for a family member after visiting the Book Barn... and now every time I'm in the area, I make a point to stop here to grab food. I live a fair distance away and it's always worth a trip. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and decently priced, and the restaurant itself has a cool vibe. The pulled pork gordita and burrito are favorites of mine and my partner. I'd definitely recommend coming on a warm spring day and eating outside (maybe with a book from the Book Barn!).“
