“The Shipwright's Daughter came highly recommended to us by locals we had talked with while vacationing in Mystic, and it did not disappoint. We booked a reservation for 7:15pm on a Saturday evening, and we were seated promptly at 7:15. From the hosts initial greeting, to our server first introducing herself at the table, every staff member made us feel welcomed. It was lovely. The cocktail my girlfriend ordered and the local draft I ordered were both outstanding. Our appetizers of Oysters on the Half Shell and a Yellowfin Tar Tar served on a Potato Pavé, were both so delicious, full of flavor, and beautiful. Our entrees consisted of the Zucchini Bucatini and the Duck Confit special, and both came out perfect. The seasoning, the cook of the duck, the plating were all immaculate. It's very clear the staff takes pride in their work, and make sure the guests have an outstanding experience. We finished with dessert, a Plum Sorbet Pavlova with a Peach Reduction, an Espresso Martini, and an Irish Coffee. We were finished with our meal and drinks and on our way by 8:20pm. All in all, it was the best experience I've had in a restaurant. The meals were phenomenal, the staff was top tier ( I apologize I can not remember our waitresses name, but she was outstanding), and the overall experience was more than I could have hoped for. If you are traveling to the mystic area, and you want to have an outstanding dining experience, this is the place for it“

“Just visiting from out of state (NY) and stopped in late for a bite. Never had a meal at Johnny Rockets. The Mgr., Mike greeted us with a warm smile and seated us. “The oyster club puts an aggressive focus on the ingredients themselves. Less fanfare, more flavor.

The warm nautical interior seats a number of groups comfortably as well as having a spacious bar top for singles and couples.

The bartenders are knowledgeable and the staff have that calm conspiratorial air befitting delicate opulence. I sat alone at the bar enjoying a quiet afternoon to myself and was handled by one of the two bartenders who talked me through the menu in casual conversation. All my food arrived in sequence thereafter without her so much as writing anything down.

I enjoyed a selection of local oysters, fresh and delicious. Followed by a course of seasonal vegetables, sliced tomatoes in oil with dollops of cream and braised radishes in a lemon butter sauce that paired decedantly with the fat slabs of homemade sourdough.

For my entree I did a catch of the day which was cooked to perfection.

Oyster club is not about elegant technique or fancy recipes, the menu is short and printed on paper as it is ever-changing.

I filmed a quick intro outside, walked in, got a quick vid of the interior and before I got to sit down for a food review it went downhill fast. Almost immediately, the energy felt off. As I started my usual walkthrough (phone in hand), the interaction with the owner turned uncomfortable. Instead of being welcoming or neutral, the tone came off as condescending, rude and dismissive. There was no effort to de-escalate the situation, and I quickly felt unwelcome in the space. At that point, I made the right decision to leave. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t make a scene. I simply chose not to stay where I didn’t feel respected or welcomed. I’m always courteous, polite, and respectful when I walk into any establishment, and my money is just as good as anyone else’s. I would have easily dropped $250 on that visit including a generous tip for my server. When the vibe is off, I listen to that instinct. “Checked out Saltwater Farm Vineyard with my husband, Scouting locations for our upcoming vow renewal and this vineyard took our breath away…… needless to say we found our vow renewal location. Beautiful views of coastal Stonington, war era airplane hanger meets natural tidal marsh. Location was beautiful even in the rain. Had a meeting with Jessica( Jess for short) prior to walking into the venue we were happily greeted by a older gentleman( which I’m assuming was the owner, but not sure) opened the door for my husband and I also let us know the the Vineyard was closing at 3pm. Once my husband and I walked through the doors we were greeted with rustic charm, then we met Jess, very accommodating. Jess talked with my husband and I while a bee hive of activity was going on, the vineyard was hosting a wedding. What a perfect time to see elegance in the making. Jess showed us the outside which was covered by a huge tent. The vista was exactly what I had pictured in my mind, rows and rows of grape vines as far as the eye could see. Jess asked if we wanted some complimentary wine for tasting( I chose white wine, my husband chose rose) I took pictures as Jess talked with my husband, then she let us do some exploring. My husband and I went upstairs which there were tables and chairs meant for enjoying their beverages, outside seating as ( area covered with huge tent). Dog friendly Vineyard…… which was nice to see. We were then told politely that the venue would be closing in ten minutes for the wedding/reception….. older gentleman was very nice and friendly. he was definitely not rude, which was refreshing. Took more pictures as my husband and I were leaving. Great place for a wedding or any other special event.“

We indulged in a variety of IPAs at this charming classic home, built in the 18th century New England style. The layout was superb, offering plenty of tables and seats to choose from. The bartender, Justin, proudly informed us that all the murals were original, leaving us in awe! They were reminiscent of the Wadsworth Atheneum (CT), showcasing their age and historical significance. Whether you’re here for the beer or not, this building is worth exploring with its iconic status. What an incredible opportunity to tour such a historic gem!
