It is a beautiful space inside and out. Everything has some little twist beyond the ordinary. I try to pay attention as there are subtle flavor mixes that I don’t want to miss. I skipped extra wasabi and ginger, both of which I love, to not overwhelm the intent of each bite. Order the chef's nigiri selection for an easy choice. Just go. Zero chance you’ll regret it!“

“We’ve been going here for at least a decade, but this is our first time leaving a review. It’s an excellent restaurant — cozy and comfortable, with a great mix of Japanese dishes, including traditional sashimi and sushi, along with some fun and creative specialty rolls. They also have a menu of traditional Korean dishes, which are excellent.

Jay, the chef and owner, and his wife Jenny are wonderful hosts. They consistently turn out great food, and after all these years, this remains a local favorite. It’s BYOB, so grab a bottle of wine or some beer and come make yourself at home.

This time, we started with some gyoza and a kani salad, both of which were excellent. Then came five or six different specialty sushi rolls. The sushi is always fresh, delicious, and generous, with a great mix of traditional flavors and more creative combinations. There’s always so much to choose from that it’s hard to pick just a few rolls, and we always end up ordering more than we planned.

The Udon Bokkeum was the standout of the meal. It was absolutely delicious. The fresh vegetables and mushrooms were cooked perfectly, the noodles were thick and tender, and the beef was succulent and flavorful. Everything came together really well, with the tender beef and perfectly cooked vegetables mixed with the thick, chewy noodles. It was a fantastic dish and one we’ll definitely be ordering again.

After coming here for more than 10 years, we can honestly say the food and experience have remained consistently great. The food is always fresh, the portions are generous, and there’s a great variety of both Japanese and Korean dishes. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Japanese and Korean dining experience. It’s one of our favorites, and we always look forward to coming back.“

“I’ve been trying to come here for late lunch, and I couldn’t ever make it since they close at 2:30. So, I finally made it here today. The wonton soup was good, with a thin wonton wrap and a good amount of pork filling. And I had my usual Thai curry chicken, which left me satisfied and happy. It’s a husband-and-wife team, and they’re so nice.“

While the Szechuan seasoning was not quite as numbing as I desired, this profile is somewhat expected for this region and did not detract from the overall high-quality experience. The flavors were faithful to authentic techniques while remaining accessible, proving that the kitchen team is extremely knowledgeable.
Bottom Line: Tzen offers a sophisticated and flavorful menu that justifies the premium cost through sheer quality. If you are looking for an elevated, authentic vegan meal with fresh, premium ingredients, this is an excellent choice; however, if you are strictly budget-conscious or seeking the intense, numbing heat found in traditional Szechuan provinces, you may find the seasoning and price point a bit deficient for your specific needs. I highly recommend giving this hidden gem a try.“
