“This food was delicious, not greasy and fresh. The donuts were delicious and the eggs tastes fresh every thing was a 5 star rating. I'm always iffy about ordering from the right place, you can tell these people have a clean and respectful familly and there food shows. I work in restaurants for over 20 years I only orders delivery but everything was an amazing experience. Definitely order from this place you will be happy you did. Worth the price. I was very satisfied. I live in New London and I'm happy I didn't ordered from a place near my house. This is the best, you will be happy.“

“We ordered from this place on New Year’s day, literally because we just moved into a new place near by this Chinese Restaurant and our old place was closed… so we Googled what was near us and tried it. So I ordered online, and called the restaurant to make sure they received the order. The manager had to check but called me back and was very happy and nice over the phone. I am a restaurant worker too, so I left an online note that I’d be tipping $10 in cash and Happy New Year! The driver was super kind and smiley. So far.. so good. Me, my son and my dad are pretty picky about or Chinese and boy did China Express … IMPRESS! We tasted every item of each other’s complimenting the freshness, attention to detail, portion size, ease of ordering and of course the taste was phenomenal. “I am not from the area and was in town to do some shopping. My boyfriend and I decided to try some takeout here instead of back at home. I am so glad we did. Don’t tell my local favorite takeout but China Express has the best crab Rangoon I’ve ever had. We also got sesame, chicken and General Tso chicken, lo mein, boneless spare ribs, and a couple of egg rolls. We ended up with more egg rolls than I expected. This is good because their eggrolls are excellent. They are so fresh and they are not greasy. The chicken dishes were also both very good. We got a ton of food for the money we spent and will be able to eat it again tomorrow. Thank you guys so much. We will be back next time we are shopping in New London.“

“We’ve been coming here for the last few years and have never been disappointed. Service is quick, and food flavor and quality is consistent, with good value (portion wise) for the price. Our family of 4 can easily have dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day, for about $75.

“Tried Dan's Rice Box for the first time and we were not disappointed!!! The food was fresh and delicious. we ordered delivery and it got to us fast and still hot. love that we can order online and even gives an option to leave any needs on each item. “I ordered to go here. I wanted some good Chinese food quick and I made the right selection by ordering here. I got combination platter with chicken lo mein , pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also got a half wonton and half egg drop soup. Overall Food was good. Chicken lo mein was still piping hot when I ate it but my soup was barely warm at all. Staff was friendly when ordering here and service was fast. Food was ready in 20 minutes.“

“My food was delicious. However, I have one suggestion, and an observation. First, back off on the sugar. My beans were sweet, ribs too sweet, the Chinese restaurants around here have taken to adding so much sugar, it doesn’t even taste savory, only sweet. Beef up on the black bean sauce, throw in some hoisin, don’t be afraid to season it. When I go to a Chinese restaurant, I want Chinese food, not Chinese American food. “Chinese” vegetables have practically disappeared off the menu replaced with regular veggies. Where’s the Bok Choi, the bitter melon, the black mushrooms, the closest I can find is a bit of bok choi, bamboo shoots, maybe water chestnuts and that’s it. I don’t want carrots and peas in my fried rice, it’s not right, I want bean sprouts! Ok, back to the review. Good points: hot food, beans perfectly cooked but it said spicy and it wasn’t spicy at all, the Sichuan wonton were supposed to be spicy too. In short, increase seasonings and spices, back off the sugar, and it would be perfect. The food was delivered hot, well packaged and wrapped thoughtfully. Presentation 100%. I will definitely be back to try again.“

“So far, the house won ton soup, the chicken lo mein and the shrimp chow Mein are my favorites. My guy and I have been Chinese take out testing and so far, Sweet Rice is the best. The pork fried rice is moist as well as the chicken in the lo main. The noodles are delicious! The shrimp in the chow mein were perfectly cooked. What a gem we have in Salem. It may not look like much but he serves up some delicious eats! Don't judge a book by its cover.“

“They have a few tables, but I've never seen anyone eating there.
It's (for me) primarily a take out place.
I found Golden Wok in the middle 90's when they were on Bayonet St. There menu and food quality hasn't changed in that 27 years.
I moved out of New London in 2003 and I travel back to Golden Wok at least 6 or 7 times a year.“

I have tried a few Chinese restaurants in the area, and have found them all have an issue with things being to sweet. I'm assuming for the average American pallete.

This was exceptional! I ordered for pickup, as I'm too far for delivery, and the staff was very friendly, and my order was ready on time. Will definitely be ordering again, and may become a regular“

“This was the best buffet experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. I would go back every day of the week. $13 for some of the finest cuisine in all of New England. I would pay thousands. The service was splendid, if I could stay all day and eat all 3 meals I would. I have spent my last 5 paychecks on panda buffet and I do not regret it one bit. The crab rangoon is TO DIE for!!!“
