“Some of the best soul food that you can get, I am a Native Chicagoan that relocated to D.C. from Mississippi. I wish I would have visited this place when I first relocated. I visit 3 times a week (yes 3 times a week).“
“had such a great experience at Cravings! The employee named Star who helped me was honestly the sweetest. She was super helpful, so fun to talk to, and made the whole visit feel extra special. Her energy was everything so bubbly and positive! You can tell she loves what she does. Definitely made me want to come back again. Give that girl a raise! 💖“

“The USDA Food Hall Court is one of those places you’d never find unless someone tipped you off. No signs, no hype, no breadcrumbs. Just suddenly… boom, a massive buffet hiding in plain sight.
This is hands-down the best buffet in the country, and it isn’t even close. It’s not just better than mall food courts—it’s in a completely different league. Think Italian, Asian, BBQ, Southern, Southwestern, and then some. The selection is enormous, and somehow the quality keeps up with the quantity.
Honestly, I have my doubts this place is even run by the Gubment. There’s just no way they could turn out this much food, this well, at this level. Hundreds of people flow through, yet the dining hall is so large you’ll still find a seat without playing musical chairs.
One of the best surprises is the wall of vintage promotional posters. They don’t hide the old ones that turned out to be nutritionally wrong—they leave them up and add the corrected versions right alongside. It’s a walk-through of food history, right there on the walls.
This place screams quality and quantity, and somehow delivers both. If you know, you know. If you don’t, now you do.“

“This has been my go to place for lunch when in DC. I love the sampler platter with food representing the cuisine of the different native cultures in various geographic areas of the continent. They reflect how the peoples incorporated the available fish and animals and the types of grain and vegetation into their meals. Not inexpensive but a cultural as well as a gustatory experience.“
