The Craft DC is one of those rare places where every detail feels intentional. I think itd be better as a shared experience, I went by myself and felt very out of place. No fault of the staff, just the nature of the menu and unique drinks invited discussion etc
If you’ve been in D.C. for a while, you probably remember this space as Voodoo. It’s now The Craft, located just upstairs from The Alchemist, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite cocktail bars in the city.

The cocktail menu is one of the most creative, with unique flavors and interactive drinks that make the experience as fun as the cocktails. A Lady Gambles lets guests draw a playing card that determines the final twist on an espresso martini—one draw paired the drink with ube. La Cigarette has a fun and hyperealistic presentation. Shanghai Express is savory and sensory. Double Indemnity is rich, smooth, and tastes almost like dessert. Against Odds lets guests roll dice to customize a cocktail, finished with smoke or fire. Bazi has subtle Indian-inspired flavors, while Gardenia is light, refreshing, and perfect for summer. Misty Days tastes like juice, with a bubble on top and an amazing smell.
The bartenders are welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to share the stories behind the menu. The atmosphere is intimate with a stylish speakeasy feel, transforming into a cozier, moodier setting in the evening. It is an excellent spot for date night, a girls’ night out, or anyone who appreciates creative cocktails. Some find it better as a shared experience.
