“This was our first time visiting Hummingbird to Mars. We had heard from friends prior to going about how the place was set up. Our expectations were in line with how the restaurant runs. As a speakeasy, the focus is on the cocktails, which are made painstakingly by hand. Their preparation is true to historic standards and no detail is overlooked. The time it takes to receive your drinks might be a little longer than a traditional bar, but they are WELL WORTH IT.
Regarding the ambience, the location mimics the experience one might have had 100 years ago during prohibition. Upon arrival, you ring a doorbell at an otherwise nondescript entryway where you are greeted by friendly staff who will escort you up a flight of candlelit stairs to your table. The location can accommodate a few dozen people so making reservations would be prudent.
Once seated, you’ll be given an extensive drink menu from which you’ll certainly find a customized cocktail that will suit your taste. Our server was knowledgeable about the cocktails and helped us make educated choices with respect to food and drinks.
Considering we went in December, an excellent Jazz trio literally drummed up the background music…jazz interpretations of Christmas classics, which everyone enjoyed.
In a world of bland restaurant chains, this place stands out like a gem. You will not be disappointed.“

“Despite living just 20 minutes from the brewery and being an avid beer lover, for whatever reason my husband and I hadn’t been to twisted irons. We decided to make a visit and then were kicking ourselves for not coming sooner! Often if you’re not a “regular” at these breweries you’re ignored, not here. The staff were amazing! They made us feel welcome, and made beer suggestions based on our style of beer choices. The beers were delicious and the vibes were vibin’. We left raving… until we noticed our card was charged for substantially more than we authorized. BUT! Literally within minutes of me contacting the bar, they sincerely apologized for the fat finger and refunded the money. I debated adding that little negative thing, but it’s important for others to know that despite making a mistake, how quickly they rectified it while also being so kind. I 10/10 recommend this brewery and cannot wait to return! Cheers!“

“A dope dive bar where a lot of different folk come together to forget about the outside world and have a few drinks over a game or two of pool. There’s tons of bar space and table seating which makes the walkway quite skinny, so be prepared to be bumping shoulders and hips with the patrons all night. Honestly the back wall being full of TVs is kind of hilarious and doesn’t fit the vibe but who cares. Didn’t get the bartender’s name with the tattoos but that guy was really cool. From the moment we stepped inside, the welcoming presence of Jacquline, our host, guided us to a comfortable table tucked away in the back. Her genuine friendliness set the perfect tone. Shortly after, the delightful Katie became our server, her pleasant demeanor immediately putting us at ease and smoothly starting our culinary journey. The menu boasted a tempting array of options, and we eagerly chose the kale Caesar, cornbread, and brisket mac and cheese to begin. Oh my goodness – each starter was an absolute revelation! For our main courses, my wife savored the delicate lamb gnocchi, while I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly cooked salmon. Neither dish disappointed; they were both executed flawlessly. A thoughtful touch was Katie finding me a delicious non-alcoholic beer, a real treat since I don't drink. To conclude our exceptional meal, we shared a lemon pound cake that was simply divine. Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this wonderful spot in Trolley Square. Everything, from the ambiance to the exquisite food and the extraordinary service, was truly on point.“

“I was searching for a karaoke spot on a Thursday night. After calling about 8 different places, I found this one and had driven 40 min to Christiana pub. Didn't look too promising outside at first, but when I entered the girl that was singing Tennessee Whiskey was phenomenal and the good vibes were most definitely there. Place was clean and locals were very friendly (no weirdos lol) and everyone was having a great time. My only complaint is the bartender Lexi was very rude when I entered and also when I went to get a drink. As a former bartender and server of 8 years, and as a first time customer, had it not been for the dj and the locals I might not have come back based on her initial attitude towards me. Other bartender (didnt get her name) was attentive and more relaxed as she was working. My suggestion is that every person who walks in the door is a paying customer and should be made to feel welcomed. Other than that, great time great drinks, great crowd, would still recommend 👌“

BRIAN was the bartender when I came in. He was super welcoming and had great small talk. As someone who's never been here, he treated me like a regular.

CHARLIE, who prepared the food, also came out when he had time and was a pleasure to chat with. The food he made was really good.
