“I’ve had the best take out, from the Hockessin store! Everybody is so friendly there. The ribs, chicken (all ways), smothered pork chops, collared greens, Mac, corn bread, the list goes on. This food, puts you in a good state of mind. It’s like a hug, you can eat. Get some!“

“My 3rd visit was day before Thanksgiving. I placed a few orders in advance. The Thanksgiving platter had so much food I had to break it down to a smaller plate for my grandmother. My husband and I ate the remaining food for dinner. Great value for the price!!
I didn’t feel like baking this year and ordered a whole sweet potato pie! Very good! Way better than ShopRite or any or other store brought. Feels like it was baked at home. Here’s a pic (minus a slice.. lol)
Great service! They reviewed each item I had and even walked it to my car! Such a gem in Hockessin! Nice to have a good southern comfort option without driving far.“

“Rum Punch Restaurant is definitely a spot worth visiting! We did take away. The jerk chicken was amazing, full of flavor with just the right amount of heat. The steamed vegetables were cooked to perfection, still fresh and vibrant, and the mac and cheese was creamy and comforting. I also loved the plantains, sweet and fried just right, and the fried chicken was seasoned perfectly with a crispy finish.
A must-try is their beef patties with coco bread, a classic combo that’s a staple at any meal. On top of the great food, the customer service was warm and welcoming, which really made the experience even better. I also appreciate that they’re open on Sundays, sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking, and it’s nice to have a good option available. The prices are a bit steep.
The only downside was the indoor décor, which could use a little facelift to match the quality of the food and service.“

“It’s really hard to find good vegan options in Delaware that satisfy. I’m really picky about where I eat. They did a good job in picking the right vegan brands to get the job done. The Breakfast really hit the spot. We ordered the vegetarian ( Meat and Eggs) breakfast. We ordered one with home fries and one with Grits. If you want grits they are made with regular butter. Chef Andre had no problem making a fresh batch vegan though. The home fries were perfectly sliced and made with real potatoes and not frozen ones and had real peppers and onions. Not everyone can work with the vegan egg products out there, but they were spot on. They were some of the best vegan eggs I have ever had. I do have to mention that the meal was a bit oily but that can be fixed and will not stop me from coming back, trying new things and recommending again and again.“

“I happened upon this establishment a few weeks ago while waiting to take the long drive to EWR. I stopped in, perused the menu, and decided upon lamb chops with the non spicy house sauce, Mac n cheese, and candied yams. The food was one word…FANTASTIC! The service by the bartender (I decided to sit at the bar) was wonderful; the lady spoke to me as tho we’d known each other for years! She was very gracious. And the decor and music was so inviting, not to mention the clean bathrooms! My overall experience was amazing. And here it is, I’m back today, a Tuesday, where they’re closed😂. I pray that the staff is taking much needed time off from thier awesomeness. I’ll be back tomorrow ☺️❤️🫡“

“I went about 2 months ago hadn't been there in years for chitterlings.
We ordered a bucket that was $200 it was worth it. The same way I used to just bring them home and cook them a little longer with the seasonings you like. They were clean so I didn't have to do all that hard work. My chitterlings were perfect“

“The Fried Chicken (duh!) Walt's Chicken is legitimately incredible fried chicken. The Lincoln Street location, Walt's Chicken Express, run by apprentice-turned-master Larry Fletcher, transcended even the original Walt's Flavor Crisp Chicken. After spending a decade learning from the original founder, Harry Sheppard, Larry opened his own Walt's on the West Side of Wilmington. And he took everything that made Walt's legendary, added his own Master Chef expertise, and elevated the chicken to an even higher plane of existence. You will NOT leave Walt's without already craving more of their fried chicken. It's THAT good. If you've had legitimately amazing fried chicken in Texas or Georgia, and can't tolerate the greasy rubber you always get served in the Northeast, take a sigh of a relief . Walt's is the ONLY chicken shop within 200 miles of Delaware that is legitimately *on par* with the best fried chicken joints in Texas or Georgia Get the fried chicken. White or Dark. Breast or wing; thigh or leg. All of the above. (Just remember to bring back 2-3 pieces for each other person in your home. Even if they "weren't hungry" when you left, they'll be furious you didn't pick them up a 3 piece dinner box) Lastly, don't expect anything special from anything else they serve. Sides, fries, fried shrimp, dessert, whatever else. They range from "decently good" to "mediocre at best." You're not there for cornbread.“
