“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. If you are in the Newark area and would like some tasty and quick diner food, go there & ask for Alicia <3 Thanks Alicia will be there again real soon !“

“My friend and I took a girls road trip today and ended up in New Castle. We decided to try Jessop's Tavern for lunch and absolutely loved it. Friendly warm atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious lunch! So glad we decided to stop in. We will definitely be back!“

“We had dinner at this location tonight. My selection was the Rib-Eye steak with a baked potato. I requested broccoli rather than the potato, and asked to have it cooked so it wasn’t crunchy, and have the steak cooked medium rare. The broccoli florets were tender but the stalks were very crunchy. I asked our server to return them and asked to have them cooked a bit more. When he returned, there wasn’t any difference, and they weren’t hot. The steak was overcooked, tough, and bland. Honestly the only good thing was the vanilla ice cream. This is no reflection on our server. He was pleasant and attentive.“

“I stopped at Tom Foolery’s recommended by the staff from my hotel. I was greeted by Isaiah. I believe that is the correct name. Anyways he was the light in an otherwise normal day. He asked how my day was, what brought me in and if I had ever been. As I gave him a response he was extremely engaged and carried a great conversation with insight on the menu. He asked what I like and ended up picking out the perfect combination for my taste. Extremely professional and such a pleasure to have him as my waiter. If I’m ever back in this part of the country I’ll be sure to come back and hope to have see him there. Thanks you for the great service.“

Our waitress, Piper was phenomenal, .... friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. The food was perfectly portioned and all tasted great. The soft pretzel was wonderful. The Brussel Sprouts was excellent and the short ribs were tender and flavorful. The apple cider mule was a perfect drink to top it all off.“

“I had seen their 4.8 rating on google maps for several months. I was a little skeptical. I was happily surprised how good Appleby's was. Let's remember it is a gas station. I am pretty sure it was a husbadn and wife team working. Good taste and amount for price.“

“Many thanks to the staff at Churchman's Rd Newark DE Applebee's. I spoke to Garrett to make arrangements for a birthday celebration there. He was so wonderful and pleasant to speak to and so accommodating. Our waitress Crystal H was wonderful too. She gave such great service, even helping us to decorate the tables. I didn't expect her to do that but that was so nice of her. The food was great and prices reasonable. The staff there all seemed so friendly. Again many thanks. “I'm so disappointed that I need to change this formerly 5 star review (old review below).

The menu has been revamped, and in that process, many of the vegetarian- friendly options have been removed, including the ability to swap a vegetarian protein for the various breakfast meats. There are no longer any vegetarian substitutions.

The prices are no longer excellent, either. Today, I paid $17 for a just-ok omelet and potatoes that, despite having the same name they used to, are no longer nearly as good as they used to be.

This may be a function of it being a Sunday morning, but it was so loud in there that I could barely carry on a conversation.

My previous review is below. I'm hoping that the management will consider revising the menu to make it more flexible for vegetarians and others with dietary restrictions.

Very relaxed atmosphere and an amazing menu! There were plenty of vegetarian options, and they can even add a Beyond Burger to omelets! Prices are very reasonable. Service was excellent, but it was a slow Monday morning, so that may differ during a weekend brunch rush.

I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're going to breakfast with people who have dietary restrictions.

“We were traveling to Washington DC and started to get hungry. We saw a sign for Wendy's and decided to stop there. We got off the highway and couldn't find Wendy's, so we seen the diner and stopped there. I had the burger plater and a drink my friend had the patty melt and drink. Both meals were the best we have had. The service was very good and the price was better than Wendy's. If you're in the area do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed. “The service is great here, and this restaurant has been a staple in the family for year's. Also my waitress (Ivory) service was outstanding! Ivory was very thorough with everything.“

“We were visiting Newark for a furry convention nearby and my partner and I got stuck in a random hailstorm on our way to Chipotle down the street. We took cover in Home Grown and found out it's got a large selection of vegan selections, which was a surprise! We took the opportunity for a date and our server, Dana, was wonderful. They introduced us to the restaurant and gave us an overview of the menu, specials, and their favorite drink. We ended up ordering the Maple Barbecue seitan wings, the casserole style loaded fries, the seitan birria tacos, the winter mac, and Dana's favorite drink, the Bird by Bird. The drink was amazing and a perfect choice with all of the food being incredible. I wish there was one near where we live. What an absolutely wonderful date.“

“I was staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel and this restaurant is connected to the same building. There is an entrance from the hotel lobby.
I had a large Cobb salad with salmon which was delicious.

“The staff offered their best efforts but shortfalls were evident with the lack of experience which is understandable for new students. Not to deflect on their efforts - but the quality of the food was not up to our expectations for the prices charged. Our overall thoughts though were to support the staff and hopefully as they progress that they will improve on those areas. We will return in the future and will recommend to others.“

“I had an amazing experience at Catch 45 in Delaware! The pepper kala was perfectly spicy, the goat soup was rich and flavorful, and the fufu was just like home. The ambience was so welcoming—it felt like being back in Liberia. Highly recommend to everyone, especially the Liberian community, to come and enjoy the taste of home. You won’t be disappointed!“

“Sunset Subs and Steaks is our favorite spot whenever we travel from New Jersey to Delaware. We always make it a point to stop here. They have the best cheesesteaks in town, packed with meat, cheese, and perfectly grilled.

This time, we decided to stop for breakfast. We ordered two egg and cheese wraps with mushrooms and our favorite sauce, Boom Boom. This sauce is a delicious mix of peppers and garlic that will take you straight to heaven if you like spicy flavors. The wraps were loaded with mushrooms, and the eggs were perfectly cooked and never dry.

Listening to the owner’s suggestions is always a good idea; he really knows what he’s talking about. We appreciate that everything is fresh, of high quality, and clearly made with love. This family-owned business is dedicated to serving the community’s needs, and it shows.

“A great venue, not far from the UD campus right on the river. Good food at decent prices. Their upstairs venue space is awesome. We are there monthly for the Vanguard Event and they go out of their way with custom drinks and great service. 10/10 would recommend!“

“My Wife and I along with our 1 year old son recently visited the location in Newark. We were surprised by sun-par service as our waitress forgot to sub our sons chicken tender order’s fries with Broccoli. My meal was good but my wife upgraded her chips to truffle fries that were very small in portion and also very cold. Additionally our sons order did not come on a frisbee which was disappointing and was not reflected on our bill. 3/5 rating for good food and poor service“

“This is my first meal here at Chilly’s, without expectations. The waiters were very polite and service fast. We ordered the combo 3 for me : it was welcome surprise to have real chunk chicken on the enchilada soup ?, delicious (si eres mexicano sabe como sopita de frijol ?), and the smash burger… ? OMG! The bun was soft, meat really juicy and the dressing with the slice of ? ? made a really difference in the test. For something simple was a delicious meal and a really nice portion of soda. It was the perfect meal without overwhelming our belly with more food.“
