My FAVORITE local haunt every time I hide away in Apalach...the new owner is AMAZING, and it was wonderful to see the old crew in the kitchen...the food is great (thanks for that hushpuppy tip) and it always feels like HOME when you stop by and hang out. Did I mention it has the best Key Lime anywhere in town? LOVE YOU FOLKS! Thanks for making our recent vacation something special. Can't wait to come back again soon...
Was not super busy when we arrived on Fri 3/1 about 350. One large party of 8, second party of 5 thee one couple and a man finishing a dozen raw oysters. The 5 men working were super efficient in getting tables wiped down, getting us seated and menus in hand. I ordered a Merlot, He ordered a can of Oyster City "Tates Helles" German beer. Fried oysters were super savory, not too masked by the breading, not overcooked. Fries similarly were substantial so as to taste like potato, not like "fried," yet not very thirst-provoking (for fries). Hush puppies were also excellent.
