“Why Didn’t I Know About this Place Sooner?

Dunedin has a lot of great little restaurants. I don’t know how this one didn’t show up on my radar sooner. The outdoor seating is very nice. The staff were all great. The prices were good.

I started with the smoked fish. While I enjoyed it, the fish needed a little more flavor from the smoking process. I added some vinegar, salt and a bit of hot sauce. I had plenty to take home. For my main I had fish & chips. The fish was cod and there were four large pieces in a thin crust. It was moist and flaky and delicious—one of the best fish & chips I’ve ever had. The fries were crunchy and tasty. I had a side of cole slaw and, unlike in many places, it was tangy and delicious.

I hope to return soon.“

“What a fantastic venue for my 70th birthday celebration! We reserved the Honey Hole and Shell Garden for a private gathering of about 30 friends & family with children. Allysia helped me put together a wonderful experience, she went above and beyond to make it really special, and was so easy and fun to work with from start to finish. “Walked in and was greeted with a friendly smile by Malcom who helped us choose the best options. I so wanted to try the gizzards but they were sold out-they must be good! We had the garlic snow crab platter and had them spice it up a bit, so buttery and flaky. We also tried the garlic shrimp platter which had plenty of large shrimp and both had delicious butter soaked potatoes and corn on the cob too. Then we had the fried catfish with seasoned fries. This is a take out only location and all the better for it. When we picked up our order we got to meet "Little Pompey" who was rang us up and thanked us for our business. Any platter you choose Snow Crab, Blue Crab, Shrimp will be worth it just ask for a little heat if you like it!“

“Safety Harbor is a charming town full of great eats. Water Oak is right on the corner. Seating is inside and out. Great fresh food and top shelf cocktails. Please try to delicious pork belly’s.“

The bar messed up 2 of our 5 drinks, which the waitress had remade and apologized saying the got a rush. “What a walk down memory lane this is!!! We haven’t been to Bobby’s Bistro, or its more upscale sister restaurant the Beachcomber in years. Twenty years ago, these two restaurants were the absolute “It” place, the best in Tampa. Amazingly, the decor is exactly the same as 20 years ago but somehow doesn’t look dated at all. The food was fantastic. We met George, our server, who is a bit of a celebrity, and he was super nice and gave me a supersized shot! Glad to give this notable establishment a great review!“

As for the food, it was the best I had in Clearwater. I prefer Diner and Dive local eats compared to overpriced and pretentious restaurants. I had the seafood platter and the Grouper sandwich, and both were outstanding and grilled to perfection. I enjoyed my seafood scallops and grouper with green beans on the platter, but I LOVED my sandwich and fries!

This was also my FIRST stop on the Cocktail Challenge (four stops for four signature drinks at four locations), and I enjoyed my drink on a humid day and, if I’m being honest, loved my Dockside Lemonade the best of all the drinks on the challenge. I had the Banana Hammock and, of course, the Rum Runner, which was outstanding, but this Dockside Lemonade was cool and refreshing and welcomed. At the end of the day, this was a great way to start my challenge and Clearwater vacation. It can get busy with its proximity to the beach, so beware!
