“It doesn’t get much better than Taste of the City. I have been coming here for many years. The food and I had about everything is always hot, fresh and delicious. The owner Debra is one of the nicest and most genuine people you can ever meet. I can eat anywhere from the Hard Rock, Ft. Lauderdale to Miami Beach but I prefer to come here. I have been very lucky this have this great restaurant within walking distance. The waitress is always friendly and keeps everything moving smoothly. Your drink is never empty. I only wish they were open for dinner. But then again Debra and the stuff need the time to rest. And we should or at least I should. Take Debra to dinner for having such a wonderful place. And really this is the place where everyone knows your name.“

“Excellent!! I went Just Spoons for brunch. First I would suggest make reservations. This restaurant gets crowded fast. I had the grilled shrimp and fried catfish w/ eggs and grits. Enough for 2 people and it delicious. My daughter had the curry shrimp and grits awesome and flavorful. My severer was Sean was attentive answered questions about the dishes and the drink menu is like no other I had the brunch punch ( contains alcohol)and my daughter the sunset ( non alcohol) both excellent. This my first time at this restaurant and it now on my restaurant rotation.“

He was attentive, joyful, welcoming and showed so much excitement for our arrival just as if we were family coming to visit. Our waitress Mimi treated us just the same. “Really fun place. Located in the corner of a road in this nice space decorated very tastefully, feels like you entered a whole sperate world. The restaurant is interesting with basically only outdoor seating. We sat down. The Fifa game was playing, and it was nice, but way way way too loud. I couldn't hear my wife or myself thinking. The server took quite a while to come. I ordered appetizers right away (empanadas) and drinks. The drinks took about 5-10 minutes. After about 20-30 minutes they told us one of the empanadas was out and asked if we wanted a substitute. We said no. Then ordered the main. Which took about another 20-30 minutes. The appetizer eventually came , but with the main course (after almost an hour from when we ordered it, making it useless). They also did not provide any kind of free chips or the like while we waited for the hour. Either way, we got the order. I got the Birria Enchiladas, it was tasty, loaded with meat, and had a side of rice and beans. The birria meat was a little dry tho. Also it lacked any kind of cream on the top, and they were stingy with the toppings like the cheese. Still good. My wife got the birria burrito, also loaded with meat, but could've used more cheese and sauce or something. But it was tasty. It took forever to get out to get out server to come back for us to pay. Overall the service could be better. The food is great but needs improvement. Loved the vibe, but they played the TV way too loud. I would return tho as it's a good place overall.“

“Try something different for lunch today in Downtown Fort Lauderdale area, try Blue Tree Cafe Vegan Soul Food by Nika King. This little cafe serves up all the soul, as Nika’s mom, Chef Sharon cooks up all of your soul food favorites, for a very reasonable price, plus special for this month, they have a home made burger for 954 Burger Month. The Black Bean Soul Burger is made with black beans, brown rice, toasted walnuts and a variety of spices and herbs. It’s served on a vegan brioche bun smered with a chipotle compound butter and house dressing, served here with hand cut sweet potato fries. The menu also has a lot of great options too, the crab balls are my favorite! Hours are limited as they are only open Tuesday - Thursday, 11-6 and are cashless business. They are located at 612 NW 9th Ave Ste A in Ft.Lauderdale, close to downtown, but they have do have a private free parking lot. Highly suggest checking them out this week, and trying the burger before the end of the month.“
